Anyways, lets move on. This is the Edmonton construction forum, yes ? Can anyone access the ECA ? My password has expired.
They emailed us our password yesterday, perhaps yours wont be far behind.

Sorry to hijack this thread. I'm not going to say anymore after this post. I just want to correct your information. I'm not trying to be 'uppity', but Edmonton's population growth was higher this year (2009), not the past few years. Just curious where you're getting that info from?

Obviously Edmonton has seen strong growth lately, and the growth should continue. Also you're absolutely right, population trends ebb and flow. Edmonton grew more than Calgary in some of the years back in the 80's, so it's not that big a stretch to see it have higher growth this year. Anything can happen in the future. I'm as guilty as most Calgarians in assuming Calgary will always grow faster, but in all fairness looking at the numbers in the last decade and half you can see why people would just have the assumption.

^ Whatever. Both cities are awesome, except one city has an inferior hockey team, regardless of results of late.

As a fellow Calgarian, I too am equally as guilty. I can't really put my finger as to why most of us down here have this "supremacy" feeling when comparing our fellow northern Albertans...

COMPLETELY agree, both cities definitely add (one more than another) to the Alberta Advantage. And yes the Flames rock! undefeated!!!

that is one thing i cannot stand... both from Edmontonians and Calgarians. Yes Calgary has more big pretty towers downtown and is slightly ahead in terms of urbanity but i have honestly yet to experience a vastly different experience when there.

As a former Calgarian I can attest to the myopia that a great many (probably majority) of Calgarians express towards other cities, especially Edmonton. As a current Edmontonian, I always see the self-depreciating attitude that our fellow residents express. Both are silly and not based on reality.

Anyways, I am bored today so am updating the front page. If anyones got any juicy rumours or anything else that should be included let me know

I have a couple renders for the 104th Street Melcor building that could be placed on the first page. Whats the best way to get them to you?

Great photo thread. I sure miss going to games at Commonwealth. BC Place is a good stadium, but it just isn't the same. One thing I've never understood about Commonwealth... as a boy, it was always said the capacity was 60,081. Vs. Sask, there were 62,517 there, and it STILL looks like there's room for thousands more in the stands. What is the actual capacity of that stadium? Will we ever know?

I love how they took a term that was commonly used in a derogatory sense and turned it into something really interesting and original. Good work indeed.

NAIT gets a wee bit of a facelift:

Project Information:NAIT WINDOW REPLACEMENT PROJECT - PRE-QUALIFICATION - GLAZING SUBCONTRACTORS

The scope of work includes replacing approximately 1000 windows and glazing replacement to existing curtain wall to technical teaching wings.

That is a big change to the maintenance program of the last 15 years.

I can't believe you guys are wasting my time again, have a big turkey dinner coming up.

Calgary population
1970-385,436
2009-1,065,455

Population gain 680,019

http://www.calgary.ca/DocGallery/BU/cityclerks/city.pdf

Edmonton population
1970-429,750
2009-782,439

Population gain-352,689

http://www.edmonton.ca/business/documents/InfraPlan/Edmonton_Population_Historical(1).pdf

680,019 vs. 352,689- Once again Calgary dominates, Edmonton's increase in population has been minimal over the past 40 years and mainly comes from natural increase almost every year.
