I ask as I am still super interested in the trend of Chicago real estate. We continue to buck national trends, and I can't think it's just due to local governance/policy as that has always been there.

The unit next to me (Logan Sq / Bucktown) just sold about $100k above what I paid for my unit in February 2022 - That seems to reflect something going on here that I haven't quite picked up on yet - Other than Chicago is an amazing fucking city and maybe people are suddenly realizing this.......
The Chicago real estate market was far far far behind national trends for the 15 years before Covid and is now catching up (or you could say we are "ahead" but you have to pick your starting date carefully). I don't think this is reflective of any specific Chicago data point other than real estate markets seem to equalize over time. I've been invested in Chicago real estate since 2009 and I am just now coming out ahead on the cost vs return analysis.
