Yes it's beautiful. But without it's twin it looks out of place. Humbly, IMO.

I just noticed the bay windows are at their deepest and most pronounced in the centermost bays, and appear to get progressively flatter/slimmer in the outer bays. Or is it an optical illusion on my part?

Suspect it's due to cost, but maybe there was a wind tunnel-related reason as well.

It's most noticeable from the overhead aerial:

I think it is just an illusion of the extreme perspective from that angle.

It would be very noticeable from this angle but everything looks uniform"

Hmmm... looks to me like an illusion, we're seeing the 5 center bays in the crown braced by hollow steel, vs the other bays braced by filled-in opaque concrete, so they look different. But yeah the distortion from the camera angle doesn't help lol

Any word on tower 2's timeline? I know this one has a ways to go before being fully completed, but I was curious to know if there have been rumblings of when they might start the next one.

Nope, and there probably won't be for a while. The real tell will be how much they invest in landscaping the future phase 2 site.

I recall hearing that they'd need to have DuSable Park ready and open to the public before they'd receive a certificate of occupancy for this tower. Was that not the case? I walked past the park site recently and didn't notice much progress on that side.

Looks like pre-leasing is ramping up, with apartments being offered in two separate tiers (the Collection and The Residences at 400 LSD), according to the website:

https://www.relatedrentals.com/apartment-rentals/chicago/streeterville/400-lake-shore-drive

Some new interior/exterior amenities renderings too:

One down, one to go: Exterior construction wraps up at the first of two towers at 400 N. Lake Shore

The 8/10/2026 Chicago Sun-Times article says:

The plan calls for a 60-story near-twin tower to be built 75 feet to the south. But construction on the second building won’t begin until at least a year after the current tower is fully leased — and if real estate market forces are charitable.

"[That] gives us a lot of information to work on for the second tower, in terms of the demographics and how is the site functioning,” Thompson said. “It allows us to use that information to inform the second building ... particularly the interiors of the second tower.”

I wonder what "fully" means, it's not common for any building to be 100% leased AFAIK.

I wonder how long that would take, sounds like the second one could be a couple years off.

I really want to think this building is kicking off Chicago's next boom.

While I personally think from the Lake/Navy Pier is the best view, I was downtown and spothero best rate was at Trump Tower parking garage. Coming from the west down Wacker looking at the River to the Lake, this project to me right now is a home run from what I thought to what it is.

It might not be a SuperTall and I know everyone has different opinions, but I love the look and how it fills the skyline.

400LSD's crown lighting is on! Just saw it walking home.

It's more visible to the eye than to my phone's hilariously terrible camera, but:

I wonder what the other side looks like?
