One thing I wish Oakridge would have is better coffee options. The retail/commercial leasing team really dropped the ball not having Nemesis on there, I remember talking to the one of the baristas at Feast/Fallow a year ago and supposedly when Nemesis inquired they got aired. I don't know how reliable that bit is but it's confusing considering their food and coffee program is much better or as good as anything currently at Oakridge, I really don't see how Beaucoup Bakery of all of Vancouver's cafes deserves to be there

there is % Arabica coffee there near the Harry Rosen, I don't know if it's opened yet, the kiosk is fully done and they were serving coffee at the influencer preview night. Starbucks will be in Safeway and Aritzia has a cafe inside and Girogio Armani will also have a cafe.

On Level 1 there's supposed to be a Giorgio Armani Cafe at some point, and in the transit passage there will be a Trees (and A&W). I guess the Nespresso is already open?

When I looked at the Transit passage all the units were full and had signage or were open and none of them said A&W. Is there going to be more on the other side of the door that you can't use yet? like in the station?

The pics I saw on Daily Hive of the passage stopped at a fire door at the top of the stairs.

As for Beaucoup being in there, that has nothing to do with the retail/commercial team. Time Out Market is completely managed by that company and they choose who gets to occupy a space.

On my tiktok, a new coffee shop is opening across the street from the mall, opened by an insurance company. It looks cute, so I plan to visit soon.

I wonder if Mello did not want Nemesis there as both now also sell donuts.

... and/or the City of Vancouver did not negotiate with developers to move locations.
i.e. the Colingwood Branch Library could have moved to Concert's Collingwood Village where there's a community centre called "Collingwood Neighbourhood House".

Then again maybe it's because of the balkanization of decision-making power at the City of Vancouver:

Public libraries are operated independently by the Vancouver Public Library (VPL) system,
which is governed by its own volunteer Library Board appointed by City Council.

... while community centres would be under the perview of the Vancouver Parks Board.

Would either of these entities get involved in rezonings unless the developer initated an enquiry for a community amenity contribution?

Weird, what time were they there? I was there on Monday afternoon and it was pretty busy throughout the mall. Maybe a few quiet corridors but it was far from dead.

People are so mad about this place on social media lol. They don't want Safeway, they don't like the food "court", they don't like that there is nowhere to get coffee and the list of complaints goes on.

I think even if they had not redeveloped the mall, it would have continued to become more upscale, West Edmonton Mall and Chinook Centre have both added a lot of designer brands like Louis Vuitton, Canada Goose and Gucci etc. The high end brands are moving into the malls these days and Oakridge was probably the mall in the Vancouver area to add the high end stores.

I don't get why Arabica hoarded up there place, it was looking all completed and they had the % logos on it and then the logos were covered up with paper, now its all boarded up, was it a temp thing that was brought in? it seems weird.

Curious what it really means, but my expectations are just a sub-section like an aisle or two stocked with healthier/organic products with some better looking decor? I'd love to be surprised if its truly a store within a store concept...

We have Rachelle Béry's in most Sobey's stores here in Nova Scotia, takes up a fair bit of real estate in most locations, placed usually at the centre of the store with other natural food and beauty products around it.
