767 Fanshawe Park Road East - 8s (Approved)

An 8-storey apartment building with 77 units is proposed on the south side of Fanshawe Park Road East near Trossacks Ave (between Highbury and Adelaide).

The developer is Northbound Development Corporation and there is currently a single family house on the property. It looks like the developer also purchased an adjacent house (that fronts onto a street in the subdivision to the south) so that part of the rear yard can be severed of as a parking lot.

City planning staff is recommending that Council approve the zoning changes that would allow for this building.

This goes to the planning committee on January 27th and then to all of Council on February 10th.

This building will actually be the closet infill to me (just a 3 minute walk from my house), and I am not a NIMBY

There’s a ton of opposition to this in my local neighbourhood Facebook group.

Council approved the zoning changes last month.

I guess due to the opposition in the neighbourhood, Council amended the zoning changes to include a holding provision for a public participation meeting for the site-plan process.

This means that the site-plan will have to be approved by Council (whereas it is usually administratively approved by planning staff).

Seems like all of these one off properties on Fanshawe are getting turned into condos and apts.

Lots of development in this area. There are a few properties for sale on Fanshawe just east of highbury. 1421, 1433 Fanshawe. I wouldn’t be surprised if they get bought up and the development process gets going.
