At 9000 square meters (about 97,000 square feet) this is a fairly substantial building. I didn't see it in the compilation thread (but I might have missed it). Here is a rendering from the link posted by hoser111.

PS: This isn't the 12 storey building proposed for 249 Windmill Road. (it is the excavation mentioned by Jstaleness and from the link posted by hoser111)

The mobile tower crane has been up since at least Thurs. I had no idea it was a project of that size going in.

I did see an excavator on site a couple of weeks back so this is already under construction.

I wonder if this building will take full advantage of the waterfront lot by building patios or some type of harbour interface for residents?

I can't believe how close the Tower Crane base is to the water. If Hurricane Juan was to hit today, it would be bye bye base.

The foundations have been complete for a little while now, but it looks like the structure is finally underway. There were rumours online this would be precast (structure, not just envelope) and from the other side of the harbour that looks to be true. I don’t think there has been a fully precast building like this in Halifax before. There is currently one underway in Saint John of this type too. It makes sense as it the crane is much more substantial than your typical crane used for conventional cast in lace concrete and form work.

Progress sure is slow on this one. The plywood shroud around the base is painted in such a way that it looks like structure.

I hope I didn't misspeak on the material...plywood vs. concrete. I got as close as I dared not knowing the water depth/rocks in the immediate area. The paint job is so convincing.
