This is a reduction from the 800k sqft they were planning on taking on before no? I think their total footprint in fulton Market is about 600k too. So no increase overall if they're definitely not expanding and just moving people.

How much of their office footprint in Fulton Market will they be moving? Will this represent any new additional space or is it going to be a wash?

Last I heard, they were not keeping anything in Fulton Market and moving everything to consolidate here. So it's gonna be a wash. Also, the timing for them moving checks out because their big lease in FM wnds mid 2028. This is extremely disappointing considering they planned on a huge hiring spree and expansion just before covid but we get nothing instead..

They still have a ton of employees effectively working from home, despite Google's RTO mandate. I personally know two people who go to the Fulton Market location, scan their badge so they're "on record," grab a latte from the Google barista, and head right back home to work.

I never understood the coffee badging thing. If you're gonna waste 2 hours of your day commuting, why not just sit down and get to work?

Granted, I know some companies have downsized their footprint or outgrown their space - I have more sympathy for workers gaming the system if their employers can't even bother to guarantee them a proper desk. My wife goes into the office on Mondays/Fridays only (when nobody else is there) which technically meets the RTO requirement but totally defeats the purpose of in-office collaboration.

I just think it's funny that anyone thinks that would work, esp at Google. They know when you're logged into corporate Wifi and the duration as well, as well as your geolocation. Pretty sure the company I work for pings twice a day (morning/afternoon) to verify in office compliance
