Where will all these renters come from? Muze is already struggling to fill with one month free offers. The Gov't has stopped hiring and student numbers look to also decline. Hotel demand is strong though adding a lot of units probably doubling the number of rooms in the actual Byward Market.

There seem to be a considerable number of buildings soon ready for rental. Perhaps Ottawa will be joining the ciities seeing declines in average rents.

If the rental market is slowing down, it doesn't bode well for LeBreton or the Sens deal.

It's possible Muze is mostly hurting from the new International student limits. I imagine that was their target audience. I think most people would want to stay away from loud, polluted, dark, socially problematic Rideau.

That said, the rental market will reach a point where supply is higher than the demand at the rate we're building, especially if Skippy is elected and lays off tens of thousands through blind cuts.

No. It's not that old. Dates back to 1913.

Still not a fan of that brick panelling. Especially up close. It looks cheap. The aesthetics match and all that and I think its a great fit but it has a cheap look to it.

Oh hey look. It's our favourite balconies. Was just talking about this in the Rideau Residences thread. Also cheap looking.

But this building is overall too nice to get overly hung up on it. Plus its going to have two neighbours right next door soon.

Quite disappointed with the balcony rails. Balconies were supposed to be a key part of the design, and they cheeped out.

The building has a lot of redeeming features, but they could have done better. I am worried about the Renaissance as it will be one of the most prominent building in the traditional downtown, atop the escarpment. We can't afford a Rimap cheap out.

Yeah, this building has some of the same style elements for its balconies as the Rideau Registry Residences, but it just doesn’t pull it off. It looks cluttered, erratic, and disjointed, to me. I could almost think that someone collected scraps from the paper shredders of other architects and tried to glue them together into a single building. Sure, there are a few good features, but overall, I don’t feel that it all works together. It just looks chaotic, to me. But maybe that is the look that they were going for.

At least the prehung brick suits the building. Balcony glass came from Balconies-R-Us discount bin.

The hotel portion is opening by the end of next week. The apartments are also still under final finishing stages.

Thanks. Moved it back to U/C for now.

Very happy to see the hotel opening soon. That block is very dead and I hope this development helps liven it up. Always a bit worried about Patagonia across the street, but this may help.

Claridge seems to be taking up half of York, so hopefully that won't impact business to the Moxy too much.
