ಇನ್ನಷ್ಟೇ ಬರಬೇಕಿದೆ ಅರ್ಜಿ: ‘ಈ ಪಾರ್ಕ್ನಲ್ಲಿ ಘಟಕವನ್ನು ತೆರೆಯಲು 42 ಕಂಪನಿಗಳು ಆಸಕ್ತಿ ತೋರಿವೆ. ಹೀಗಾಗಿ ಶೀಘ್ರ ಕಾಮಗಾರಿ ಪೂರ್ಣಗೊಳಿಸಬೇಕು’ ಎಂದು ಸಂಸದ ಕ್ಯಾ. ಬ್ರಿಜೇಶ್ ಚೌಟ, ಒಂದೂವರೆ ವರ್ಷದ ಹಿಂದೆ ನಡೆದ ಜಿಲ್ಲಾ ಅಭಿವೃದ್ಧಿ ಸಮನ್ವಯ ಮತ್ತು ಉಸ್ತುವಾರಿ ಸಮಿತಿ (ದಿಶಾ) ಸಭೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಅಧಿಕಾರಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಸೂಚಿಸಿದ್ದರು. ಆದರೆ, ಕಾಮಗಾರಿ ವಿಳಂಬವಾದ ಕಾರಣ ಈ ಕಂಪನಿಗಳು ಕೈತಪ್ಪಿ ಹೋಗಿವೆ. ಪ್ರಸ್ತುತ ಅರ್ಜಿ ಆಹ್ವಾನಿಸಿ ಪ್ರಕಟಣೆ ನೀಡಲಾಗಿದ್ದರೂ, ಇನ್ನೂ ಯಾವುದೇ ಕಂಪನಿ ಅರ್ಜಿ ಸಲ್ಲಿಸಿಲ್ಲ’ ಎಂದು ಮೂಲಗಳು ತಿಳಿಸಿವೆ.

Summa: MRPL may drop proposed Rs. 1,341 crore bio-aviation turbine fuel (Bio-ATF/SAF) project in Harihar, Davangere in favour of proposed Rs. 350 crore Bio-ATF (Sustainable Aviation Fuel or SAF & green diesel based on palm oil, waste/used cooking oil & tree oils) at its Mangaluru premises.

When are we going to have ocean farms of seaweed, microalgae & mangrove for biodiesel? Is there any startup in Silicon Beach working on ocean farming? Integrating ocean farming (such as seaweed aquaculture and fish farming) with offshore wind and solar farms creates highly efficient multi-use ocean platforms. This synergy maximizes the use of marine space, shares costly grid infrastructure, and fosters thriving, protected marine ecosystems. ~The first offshore solar and seaweed farm in the North Sea, How Offshore Solar Could be the Future of Energy. May be we have to restrict waves by constructing breakwaters which also protect shores from coastal erosion. Or may be we have to break & harvest wave energy far away from shores.

Site selection for cavern-based SPR facilities also depends on proximity to existing pipeline infrastructure, coastal access for crude import logistics, and the depth of suitable rock formations. Mangaluru scores well across all three criteria, which is a major reason the site is being selected for the Phase-I Extension rather than a greenfield location.

From urban vulnerability point of view, Visakhapatnam is widely considered the more secure and strategically protected port against enemy attacks compared to Mangalore. Visakhapatnam Port is naturally protected and landlocked, making it inherently shielded from direct sea attacks and extreme weather. But the reserach paper here, considering all kinds of risks, puts New Mangalore port in the medium-risk category by identifying it as the seventh riskiest port whereas Visakhapatnam is the fourth riskiest port in India. Goa & Kamarajar are least riskiest ports in India. Although Goa may be having suitable rock formations it doesn't have crude oil refinery. Karwar with naval base & natural protection may be a better option to have crude oil storage & refinery facility.

The facility will focus on converting non-fossil lipid feeds, such as UCO and animal fats, into high-grade fuel compatible with existing commercial aircraft engines and distribution infrastructure. We have university/college-based incubation hubs providing VLSI incubation facilities like MUTBI, NITK-STEP, NMAMIT-IIC, MITE, SCEM-SHINE, SJEC-IC. Even Mangalore University's AI Centre for Excellence will be having chip design capabilities - ಮಂಗಳೂರು ವಿ.ವಿ.ಯಲ್ಲಿ ಎಐ ಲ್ಯಾಬ್! - ರಾಜ್ಯದ ವಿ.ವಿ.ಗಳಲ್ಲೇ ಮೊದಲ ಯೋಜನೆಗೆ ಚಾಲನೆ, ವರ್ಷದೊಳಗೆ ಪೂರ್ಣ. Other than these we have also independent incubation hubs like Manipal Dot Net, K-tech providing VLSI chip design capabilities. Not sure whether VTU Extension Centre at AJIET (as such VTU doesn't have a lab in Mangaluru) or K-Combinator Startup Accelerator at wrkwrk is having VLSI design facilities. Also not sure how many from the above are or will be having physical VLSI chip fabrication (foundries) & packaging (assembly) facilities.

NIT-K proposes Research, Innovation, and Technology Enterprise Park on campus

The National Institute of Technology-Karnataka (NIT-K), Surathkal, has proposed setting up a research, innovation, and technology enterprise (RITE) park on its campus, its Director B. Ravi said on Friday.

Speaking at the Silicon Beach Dialogue Series, organised by Silicon Beach Program, an initiative aimed at transforming coastal Karnataka into a major technology and innovation hub, the director said the park had been proposed on 1.5 lakh sq. ft. at a cost of ₹440 crore.

Meanwhile, the proceedings of the 66th meeting of the Finance Committee of NIT-K held on April 6, 2026, stated: “The committee resolved to direct the institute to review its lease deed with NITK-Science, Technology and Entrepreneur’s Park (STEP) Society and amend the deed, with the consent of the STEP board, to enable repossessing of the land for RITE Park and other purposes of the institute.”

NIT-K had leased 20 acres of land on the western side of the campus to NITK-STEP in 1994 for 50 years to establish STEP, which was registered as a society. So far, less than five acres have been utilised for STEP, it said.

He announced the intent to set up a 1.5 lakh sft NITK RITE Park on campus (to promote tech-led research, innovation & entrepreneurship) that will house 100 collaborative startups. This is a unique initiative and will further boost the entrepreneurial spirit among NITKians!

Where is 1000 acres land? What happened to NITK second campus proposal?

What about Adani University planned as a part of 500 acres Aerocity in the vacant land belonging to MIA? My advice to Adani Group is to have a mega Business Park as a part of Aerocity & shift Adani University to Universtiy Township if it materializes.

Hope the township will have an Energy Transition & Climate Action University, an Artificial Intelligence (AI) & Machine Learning University, a Data Science & Business Analytics University, a Quantum Computing University, a FinTech & Blockchain University, a Cybersecurity & Cloud Computing University, a Logistics & Supply Chain Management University, a Robotics & Automation University, a Healthcare & Life Sciences University, Biotechnology & Bioinformatics University, a Law & Public Policy University, a Tourism & Hospitality University, a Film, Media and Creative Arts University. Maritime University is not included as it is planned in the port land.

Anyway, a much detailed summary of educational institutes need in Tulunadu is already listed in the link below. It doesn't matter whether they are government or private or even international/foreign institutes/universities.

I think we already have good labs of BioTech. Since we want to develop our region as Energy Transition & Climate Action Hub we should have at least two colleges having 'Center for Excellence on Reimagined Energy & Materials'. Also need two 'Centers for Excellence on Connectivity & Immersive Tech' domain out of which one is 'Center for Excellence on Yakshagana Informatics & Automation'. There was already a proposal to have Center for Excellence on Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming and Comics (AVGC) 1 2 but the dream didn't fruitify so far.

Even old proposals for IT, Fintech & Cybersecurity CoEs didn't materialize so far. We don't even know fates of recently proposed CoEs like mariculture and biotechnology hub at the College of Fisheries, and a logistics and supply chain facility at KPT.

Happy to share that the Alignment Approval Committee has approved the alignment for the Shiradi Ghat section of NH-75. With the DPR for the Mangaluru–Bengaluru Expressway already awarded and under preparation, the next stage, including environmental, forest and wildlife clearances, will now move forward.

Also discussed the proposed upgradation of the Mani–Sampaje stretch of NH-275 and sought early approval of the alignment and project sanction. Meanwhile, ₹49.2 crore has been sanctioned for repair works on the existing stretch.

ಪ್ರಸ್ತುತ ತುಂಬೆ ಘಟಕದಿಂದ 160 ಎಂಎಲ್ಡಿ ನೀರು ದೊರೆಯುತ್ತಿದ್ದರೆ, ಹರೇಕಳ ಅಣೆಕಟ್ಟೆ ಮೂಲಕ ಅಡ್ಯಾರ್ ಘಟಕದಿಂದ 125 ಎಂಎಲ್ಡಿ ನೀರು ಲಭ್ಯವಾಗಿ, ಭವಿಷ್ಯದ ಬೇಡಿಕೆ ಪೂರೈಸಲಿದೆ. ಅಡ್ಯಾರ್ನಲ್ಲಿ ನಿರ್ಮಾಣವಾಗುತ್ತಿರುವ ನೀರು ಶುದ್ಧೀಕರಣ ಘಟಕವು (ಡಬ್ಲುಟಿಪಿ) ಕ್ಲಾರಿಫಿಕೇಷನ್ ಮತ್ತು ಫಿಲ್ಟರ್ ವ್ಯವಸ್ಥೆಯನ್ನು ಒಂದೇ ಕಡೆ ಹೊಂದಿರುವ ದೇಶದ ಮೊದಲ ಘಟಕವಾಗಿದೆ. ಹೈ ರೇಟೆಡ್ ಪ್ರೆಷರ್ಗಳನ್ನು ಬಳಸಲಾಗಿದ್ದು, ಮಾರ್ಗ ಮಧ್ಯೆ ನೀರು ಪೋಲಾಗುವುದನ್ನು ಗಣನೀಯವಾಗಿ ತಗ್ಗಿಸಬಹುದು ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು.

We have to write to these universities & certification bodies to create awareness on Yettinahole project & environment concerns linked to it. Even awareness has to be created among farmers about stealing water meant for them.

Udayavani & Manipal group can contribute in a bigger way for the cause. They have to threaten the government of shifting their inmvestments from the monstrous city region to other places like Dharawada & Shivamogga. Otherwise it is obvious that Udayavani is just playing with sentiments of Tuluvas to sell their news paper.
