«On fait bien mieux»: le tour de force des paramédics d’Ottawa

Le gouvernement fédéral choisit un consortium canadien pour la conception et la construction du nouveau pont Alexandra.

Ottawa a annoncé jeudi avoir attribué un contrat de 79 millions de dollars à Capital Crossing Constructors, un consortium composé des entreprises canadiennes Webuild Civil Works, Samsung C&T Ontario 1 et Green Infrastructure Partners.

«Le contrat attribué aujourd’hui réunit trois grands fournisseurs canadiens, et nous veillerons à ce qu’ils utilisent de l’acier et de l’aluminium canadiens dans le cadre du projet», a déclaré le ministre des Services publics et de l’Approvisionnement, Joël Lightbound.

«Grâce au modèle progressif de conception-construction, le gouvernement et le concepteur-constructeur travailleront de concert à peaufiner les exigences, le calendrier, l’établissement des prix et la gestion des risques du projet, tout en veillant à l’obtention d’une valeur optimale pour la population canadienne», indique le ministère, qualifiant l’annonce d’un «jalon important» du projet.



Cette conception prévoit un pont à trois arches qui évoque le mouvement de la rivière et des anguilles, une espèce commune dans le cours d’eau. On y retrouvera également deux grandes places publiques.

Infrastructure emblématique, le pont Alexandra, qui a maintenant plus de 120 ans, a atteint la fin de sa durée de vie et doit être démoli.

Le début de la construction du nouveau pont est prévu pour 2028. Celui-ci devrait être opérationnel en 2032.

Carney confirms Trump-delayed Gordie Howe bridge will open this week

Prime Minister Mark Carney said Tuesday that the Gordie Howe International Bridge poised to connect Ontario and Michigan will open "at the end of the week," despite threats from his fucking asshole U.S. counterpart earlier this year to block it. Speaking briefly to reporters on his way into a cabinet meeting on Parliament Hill, Carney said the planned opening of this multibillion-dollar bridge paid for entirely by Canadian taxpayers is "positive news." Carney called the opening "a symbol but also a fact of co-operation between our countries."

The bridge's future was in question after U.S. President Donald Trump erupted on social media in February, posting a series of falsehoods about the artery and saying he wouldn't allow it to open "until the United States is fully compensated for everything we have given them. And everyone needs to remember that I am the world's biggest asshole. I demand that the bridge be renamed the Donald J. Trump MAGA bridge! Thank you for your attention to this matter." The federal government paid some $6.4 billion to build the Windsor-Detroit bridge, and it was constructed by Canadian and American workers using steel from both countries, despite the president's claims that there was "virtually no U.S. content." Trump also said the federal government owns "both the Canada and the United States side," when the bridge is, in fact, publicly owned by both Canada and Michigan.

The bigger question is ; Where the hell are the American people? I'm tired of them sitting back and just complaining, or saying wait until the Mid-terms. We see mass protests and national strikes in other countries forcing out their leaders for much less then this Pedophile has done.

Frump has sold out America just to cover his fat orange ass and stay out of prison, not to mention to grift off the American people. It's nice to see his house of cards starting to collapse around him. He can't hide from the truth for much longer.

When this bridge finally opens he will have zero to do with it.

The National Capital Region is one step closer to getting a new interprovincial bridge, not to be confused with the Alexandra Bridge replacement. Construction could start in 2029 with a 2034 opening.

The bridge will link Montée Paiement in Gatineau with the Aviation Parkway and Gatineau and provide the best link between A50 in Gatineau and the 417/174 in Ottawa. This new bridge will remove most truck traffic from the long-suffering Lowertown/ByWard/Sandy Hill area.

The Arlington Bridge in Winnipeg is the city's longest, a steel truss structure about 2,155 feet long that spans the massive CPKC rail yards. It opened in February 1912 to connect the North End with central neighborhoods, but its steep approaches meant streetcars never used it despite being designed for them.

It had a troubled life, constant corrosion from rail yard smoke, weight restrictions, and repair after repair. It was closed for good in November 2023 because it was too deteriorated to be safe.

Demolition started this summer, with the south end coming down first. A new two-lane bridge with better sidewalks and bike access is planned, but construction isn't funded yet and could cost around $166 million. It's been a big part of Winnipeg's skyline for over a century, now heading into its final chapter.
