“The D.C. Council will consider a $620 million public-private partnership with D.C. United that would put a roof on Audi Field and expand the stadium’s seating capacity to host more than 100 new events each year.
D.C., per the bill, would finance its end of the Audi Field expansion with a 4.25% tax on the gross receipts of stadium ticket sales, as well as an additional 4.25% tax on gross receipts of other sales at the stadium during events. In addition to its $320 million investment in the stadium work, D.C. United, which leases Audi Field from the District, would be responsible for developing 467 new residential units "in connection with the redevelopment of the Soccer Stadium Site." Of the total units, 148 must be affordable, including 122 for seniors.”
