But as usual, do it on the cheap, another gorillion dollars to the cops.
The Blue line, the only one with real dedicated infra, is now late a third of the time, when "on time" means "not more than 5 minutes late", on a route that's meant to have <5 minute headtimes. The extension down Portage has basically made the system's only reliable line unreliable.

going on street in general is what makes it late. They should just adjust the schedule to make it not late anymore.

Thats exactly what Im saying. There is zero infrastructure in that leg to support so-called rapid transit.

I don't believe this system can ever be truly effective or successful without dedicated rapid transit lanes and the supporting infrastructure needed to make the spine-and-feeder network work.

I found this article interesting. Just substitute Winnipeg for Toronto and a lot of it rings true here.

In 2012-2020, the City of Winnipeg built the second phase of the Blue line: One 7.6km BRT line with a mix of dedicated busways and mixed-traffic lanes through an old existing rail line.

In the same period, Copenhagen built the M3 city circle: A 15+km fully automated underground metro with 17 deep-cavern stations, through a thousand-year-old urban core.

Oh wow, so you're telling me that a northern European city founded in the 11th century with a dense walkable layout suited for the medieval era, that has a current metro population of 2.1 million people, and an annual GDP of $205B USD invested more in public transit than a midwestern North American city founded in the 19th century with a current metro population of less than one million and an annual GDP of $45B USD? Colour me surprised!

Might as well compare Copenhagen's transit investments to those in Hamilton, Columbia SC, Boise ID, or Albuquerque NM if you want a more clear picture.

We also went to Aarhus last summer (population <400k), which built a 12km metro light rail system between 2013-2018, and a 110km, 51-stop regional network connecting the city and rural Jutland between 2012-2019.
