Good question!
Unbeknownst to me when I was making my travel plans, the G7 was meeting in nearby Evian, France. Geneva boarded itself up in preparation for any demonstrations turning into riots. Because Geneva is the nearest major city to Evian, that meant it was the point of arrival/departure for the world leaders like Donnie. It all made for quite the unique experience; my hotel locked us all in on the big protest day, no one in or out after a certain time, which is how I ended up watching it all unfold on TV. Having lived in downtown Portland in 2020, I found it all to be much ado about nothing; some poor saps' Teslas got torched, some plywood got ripped off and windows broken, and everything was back to punctually Swiss business as usual the next day.
I did get to do a quick side excursion to Montreux, which was lovely.
