We had an incident up here last month where a photo was released to the press so they could get help identifying someone who was found cranking his hog at someone in a Value village. Once the RCMP identified the person all the news outlets scrubbed the image. Castanet however shed a little light on why they all did it.
I guess public shaming is no longer allowed?
It's a slippery slope to say BC's privacy laws are too tight but something rubs me wrong when you post a mugshot and then later you get told after a positive identification you have to remove it or face prosecution yourself.

Unfortunately, the so-called political correctness has gone way overboard for many sectors in Canada, so much so that being woke has become fashionable. However, as recent incidents have shown, it is also evident that being too extreme on the left can be harmful to society. If we can't identify who a perp is, how can others stay away from the person to be safe, especially when we have a revolving-door Court system?
We can't shame drug addicts, we can't shame criminals, and we can't even shame people who do harm to others. But this will change if the public at large is harmed even more, and it is starting to.
