How odd. It's dense but devoid of that cozy urbanism I'm used to in London, Montreal, Brisbane, or Vancouver's West End for that matter. I suppose it looks cold due to the extremely wide roads mixed with a sea of glass, concrete, and steel. Mississauga is a bit like this but should come together over time as it fills in, adds more architectural layering, and becomes less car centric.

It's gotten much better, but it's still going. A few big projects seem to have stalled too. I will say there are far less zombies keeled over with needles in their hands or arms, but at night it feels really sketchy. And not enough cafes or restaurants yet.

Did anyone see this 40 minute mini-documentary of Toronto? I thought it was fairly interesting and was a decent representation of different aspects of the city. i've gotten a lot of cool documentaries from that channel featuring different places around the world including a few from Canada. But usually the Canada ones feature very remote areas so this was a bit of a surprise.

I follow that channel. They do make some good little documentaries.

^ Yes I've really enjoyed them over the years. The part I found the most interesting about that one is how most of the immigrants they talked to were just as attached to the city as the ones born there. Especially that poor homeless man from Georgia (I assume the country based on his accent). After hearing about his struggles, they asked if he'd ever consider leaving and he basically said hell no (paraphrasing). We often hear people assume that immigrants are just global-scale tumble weed that blow where the wind takes them while only those with generational connections have a real attachment but that is obviously not a given.
