The first Trollino 12 trolley has arrived at Vancouver Transit Centre. Apparently it will charge from the overhead at VTC today then be trucked to Surrey for initial testing.
Revenue service expected in September.

Through the Canada Public Transit Fund (CPTF), the federal government will invest $2.5 billion over 10 years to build new transit projects – such as the Surrey-Langley Sky Train extension project that is currently underway – and increase service access and frequency in high-traffic areas. This funding is in addition to the $852 million previously announced by the federal government to support TransLink and BC Transit.

$250M a year for the next 10 years is pretty nice. The Burnaby Mountain Gondola is supposed to be built for less than that so maybe we'll see an update soon?

this bus is expected to enter revenue service around september 2026 to coincide with the new sheet change, but it all depends on testing

The Transit app partnership is for five years.

Quote:
Mark 5 Trains
The Mark 5 program continued to gain momentum in Q1 2026 with the delivery of two additional trainsets to our
Burnaby Yard in March. Q1 also saw three additional Mark 5 trains enter revenue service on the Expo Line bringing
the total in service to eight, with three more trains expected to enter passenger service by the FIFA World Cup.
New Operations Control Centre (OCC2)
This project is scheduled to open in 2027 ahead of the opening of the Broadway Subway Project. Building construction
of the OCC2 facility is nearing completion, with activities now focused on testing, commissioning, and deficiency
remediation. Operational readiness planning continues, with current priorities centered on finalizing facility
maintenance programs and developing comprehensive training plans.
The System Integration Testing (SIT) phase, which involves hands-on validation by Control Operators using the new
consoles to test system performance under operational conditions was completed successfully. The project has
progressed to End-to-End (E2E) testing to validate complete functionality to ensure systems perform as expected in
live operational scenarios.
New Maintenance and Storage Yard (OMC4) in Coquitlam
This project provides additional maintenance and storage space for our new Mark 5 trains. OMC4 construction is
advancing steadily across multiple fronts, with a focus on progressing structural modifications, foundational work,
and overall site servicing. Work in the Trans-Canada pocket track and new flyover connection area is moving through
key demolition and support phases while preparing for future installations. Early planning and validation efforts are
underway for the Vehicle Maintenance Shop 4 building to support safe and efficient execution, while the Vehicle
Cleaning and Inspection Facility is seeing continued structural build-out with foundations, wall systems, and
supporting concrete works taking shape.

The Systems Contractor has also assumed control of the laydown area at 191A Street and started
staging rail materials for upcoming systems work.

So did the 1 make the performance of the 5 worse?

Me and my wife were on a road trip on Friday/Saturday and saw one MK V car pass us heading west on Highway 16 somewhere between Edmonton and Mundare (early afternoon on Friday). Didn't catch the number, sadly.

If the five trucks are convoying together, I really hope that keep together and line up so that the SkyTrains are in the correct A-B-B-B-A order.

I was passing by Edmonds OMC yesterday afternoon and saw a attendant at the hostler of a white MK2 'towing' two MK5 cars. I did not get the numbers but they looked new and still had the plywood(?) sealing up the corridor.
