I hope that in 20-30 years, some savvy developer will hire a really good designer, and re-clad this. It would only add value to the building.

I don't know the architecture world. How does this work? Is the final design created by one head honcho? Or is there a board that reviews the final design and collectively says "Yeah, that looks great!"?

Hard to place 100% of the blame on the architecture firm involved--it's just the state of the industry. Clients rarely want anything other than the cheapest, largest box they can fit on a plot of land.

Blame Landmark Properties for accepting a design this terrible. They're the final say on what gets built.

Obviously a bit back-handed, but I think it looks kind of good from a couple miles away.

Concur. Was just in Philly, and from a distance it adds incredible height to the entire east-west skyline. And catching a glimpse from CC, really adds density to UC.

Up close....meh.
