Not too long ago, there was a leak from a Costco employee meeting indicating new stores in Sackville (NS) and in Charlottetown in 2028. This rumour was complete with a bootlegged photo of the meeting agenda. I think a final Maritime Costco in CBRM by 2030 seems probable.

Yeah a CBRM Costco is the last logical spot for a Costco. The only other Maritime region that wouldn't really be covered would be northern NB, but Moncton, Freddy and Rimouski tend to cover that decently and the population levels are way too low to fit one in Bathurst or Edmundston.

Doing it by 2030 might be a bit tight; I think they won't officially announce anything until Charlottetown and Sackville are well underway to see how the population and demand is going. As long as Sydney can at least treadwater population growth wise, they will probably get it by then.

It was on CTV News that they just officially opened the new medical campus at CBU. Nice looking building.

I started medical school in Halifax in 1979. At that time the only options were Dalhousie in Halifax and MUN in St. John's.

If you had told me back then that at the end of my career that there would be six medical campuses in Atlantic Canada, I would not have believed you.

Halifax - Dalhousie University.
Sydney - CBU (Dalhousie)
Charlottetown - UPEI (MUN)
Moncton - UdeM (Sherbrooke)
Saint John - UNBSJ (Dalhousie)
St. John's - MUN

The only larger city not getting in on the fun is Fredericton.

I am still not entirely sold on the satellite campus concept. A lot of the instruction time is virtual, the affiliated hospitals are smaller and less specialized, and a couple of the campuses are designed to be for training of family physicians and not specialists. It does make you wonder about the quality of the education........

New 12,000 sq. ft. EHS building under construction in Sydney. This building is being built in front of the existing 12,000 sq. ft. building EHS building that was built 10 years ago. This is a expansion of existing services of EHS.
These buildings are directly in front of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital on George street in Sydney.

Work is expected to begin on phase 1 of a 200 million dollar commercial - residential mix on the Sydney waterfront known as Edgewater. CBRM council this week approved a request by Doucet Developments of Bedford N.S. to extend the start of development by 90 days to allow for a change in construction design. This was due to a increase in apartment units from 138 to 186 units. It was also allow for an additional 8,000 sq.ft. of commercial space.
CBRM council also signed a lease with the developer for 35,000 sq ft for the home of the new Sydney Library to be located on the waterfront side of the Edgewater building.

If you see an image online you would like to post, right click on the image, select "copy image address" then paste it into your post, enclosing it between . This will make the image appear.
