GRU advance bookings weren’t the problem. They were on par with the other winter long hauls. They even got better when they made onward connections bookable.

MDE had awful advance bookings so the two aren’t really comparable (other than being in SA).

I’m guessing ICN may get its resumption date moved up to early March.

Well that hardly makes for a splashy 100th destination announcement.

This one was a flier and I doubt it flies for too many seasons.

AC continue to lease a LHR slot to KE in W26, so the current schedule is confirmed:

YOW/YHZ will share a daily slot operating 3x/4x weekly
LHR-BOM/DEL will not operate this winter
YYZ-LHR remains 3x daily

When you say "continue", did they also lease to KE this past winter? If so, they are still down one daily frequency year-over-year compared to last winter (-4 BOM, -3 YHZ, no increases).

No, this summer.

A slot pair was returned to AC from OS, and then AC lease it out to KE which subsequently lease it to OZ.

Sunwing announced its winter schedule
https://westjet.mediaroom.com/2026-06-10...arly-Booking-Bonus-and-Early-Winter-Sale

Includes new destination of ACA and a few new routes: YUL-CZM and YWG-POP.

ACA is now the only Mexican destination that is a Sunwing exclusive, unless it ends up being announced with regular service from YYC?

I thought TS operates 1x weekly YUL-ACA?

Or you meant Sunwing destination but not regular WS destination...

That was specific to WS/Sunwing.

The presser only mentions YYZ-ACA but it looks like YUL-ACA was also added too.

This one is going to get canceled pretty quick, with the price of oil and all. It might operate this winter, but it won’t be back for W27.

Before people pop the champagne, let's just wait and see how the flight actually does. As Hollywoodcory mentioned advanced bookings weren't an issue, so maybe hold off on the champagne for a bit.

Looking at Porter's destinations page, it looks like next week they'll be announcing YXU and PUJ for this fall/winter.

If it looks like a duck, swims like a duck, and quacks like a duck……

And who’s popping champagne? lol. Wrong analogy. It’s more like we’re digging the grave. All that’s left is for someone to dump the body already….

You are. You rub your hands in glee any time there's there slightest thing negative about YYC. As far as dumping the body, at least wait until the flight is cancelled altogether. If they end up flying in December, you can put your shovel back and shed, and wait until the bad news is official.

WS is also ending a few seasonal European destinations early too in response to fuel price spikes including MAD & KEF which will finish their seasons in September instead of October among other cuts being loaded in this weekends update.

CPH, CWL, PDL, GLA were already scheduled to conclude their seasons in September, while LIS remains scheduled until late October.

Wrong, sir !

If I believe certain routes are doomed to fail, I call them out, no matter which airport they are served from.

When AC announced YUL-HNL during COVID, I believe I echoed the same sentiments on here. The route lasted a couple of weeks at most and was quickly canceled.

I don't need to "wait before popping the champagne". The mere fact WS is reducing the operational season on YYC-GRU to a mere 8-9 weeks is proof the route didn't meet their expectations.

Forward bookings give little insight into yield. It's not difficult to fill a flight to South America during the Canadian winter season. Filling it at the required yield premium in order to be profitable on the route is something else entirely.

You're entitled not to agree with my assessment. What you're not entitled to is to make baseless accusations pretending I'm negative only about YYC. That's the furthest thing from the truth. I routinely drag my local airport through the mud, while praising YYC (and Alberta in general) in the way they handle certain matters (especially pertaining to airport construction).
