I normally stay far, far away from the LFPress comments section, but I haven't been able to help myself recently. The last couple articles about infill and the Upper Queen development have persuaded me to get dirty in the comments.

I want all of these entitled NIMBYs to know that they are selfish parasites. I want them to know that they aren't paying their fair share. I want them to know that they are subsidized by denser areas and developments. I want them to know that they are entitled pricks.

It'll be interesting to see how both these projects play out when full council votes on them. Hopefully both do end up getting approved, but neither seem to have the support of their local Ward counselors.

With the Upper Queens project, their counsillor Peloza has typically been on the progressive wing in terms of promoting density developments (Wellington Bradley redevelopment), however with this one she is against because it's clearly raised the ire of some vocal residents and doesn't want to sour future election support.

With the Westmount development, Van Meerbergen has always been on the more conservative side and has flat out refused to support any developments that propose major residental zoning changes.

Council voted 12-3 to approve this development.

Opposed: Van Meerbergen (ward councillor), Peloza, Hillier

Van Meerbergen first moved a motion to refer this back to staff (for a second time) and that motion failed

No doubt somebody will appeal to the OLT resulting in the typical 12-18 month delay to go thru the hearing processes and get a ruling. The OLT really needs to streamline their processes and get these appeals heard and ruled on in less then 6 months and also toss those appeals that contradict provincial policy direction.

Tricar has now purchased the property from Copia.

This will likely now get built as Tricar is an actual developer and builder of things.

608 Commissioners Road West, 591 Westmount Crescent
type Residential development land
price $2,000,000
seller 608 Commissioners Inc.
buyer Tricar Properties Ltd.

This property has had all of its vegetation cleared and the house demo'd. Wonder how long it will be before Tricar waits to move this project to the site servicing stage.

Interestingly, the neighbouring property is currently for sale. Wonder if Tricar has considered purchasing it to increase their lot size and in tandem the building size.

They seem to be quite busy now with 3 project sites in London and prepping for a new 2 tower project on Gordon St in Guelph.

A building permit for the construction of the apartment building was filed earlier this month.

Interestingly enough, it looks like the height has dropped to 4 stories.... and the site-plan permit says it will only have 43 units, whereas the original proposal (from the previous landowner) had 95 units.

The address is now a Westmount Crescent one.
