Lots of road games and there is a winter break like they do in the Scandinavian leagues

Does Montreal get harsher winters than TO. If not then Montreal should get similar schedule, and there shouldn’t be argument of weather.

It's finally happening and will be sad to see the old gal go. So many memories and moments there from the Oilers to Boys II Men to Oasis to Smashing Pumpkins and The Hip.

The plan is to use this for housing and expansion of the Exhibition lands.

It really is a beautiful design, but desperately needs a makeover, somehow bring the seats closer to the action and a full update of the concourse and concessions/bathrooms.

Sadly, it has been piecemeal this and that over its life and while it works, it is far from a great experience at times.

46K at the CMNST game last night. Definitely felt its age. Concourses were jam packed at the half.

^honestly though, pre game and half was not as bad as I thought it would be and better than most concerts and big Elks games due to the number of families vs. heavy drinkers; )

Would be nice to see Commonwealth get a major makeover, definitely looks dated. At least you guys have a stadium worth renovating...

The CFL expansion stove is continuing to heat up, reports of another potential stadium project in Quebec City. This has supposedly been in planning for about a year, size will be ~25,000 seats and is currently proposed to be located on the site of the old Colisée Pepsi.

Source is in French.

That would be great. Would love to see a CFL stadium in Quebec City. If they could the redeveloped the rest of the parking lot into a mixed use entertainment district...

Here is an article showing the planned internal configurations of the renovated Stade Olympique. The stadium will have configurations for concerts (66,179), soccer (52,709), CFL football (48,658), and NFL football (50,378), meaning there will no longer be a baseball configuration.

It suggests as well that the jumbotron at the one end of the stadium will remain at this time, implying that earlier potential plans to finish the seating bowl and install a new jumbotron on the technical ring is not in the cards (at least for now, it is possible that this could be phased as a later renovation after the basic creature comforts are brought up to a better standard). There appears to be momentum growing to get the internal renovations greenlit, and it looks like CF Montreal is planning on becoming a tenant due to the MLS winter schedule change.

I think unlike COPA in New York (new Jersey) they didn't have the entire parking lot closed off or gouged for transit or buses, but hey FIFA (and Organizing Cities that pay to pay FIFA) are gonna take it for all its worth
