Housing Accelerator Fund requested changes for this site;

Request was to allow Heritage DA height of 10 storeys.

Quote:
• This is a registered heritage property (the Open Mic House) that was recently approved for a Heritage DA.
• Any requested increase in height should be negotiated through the DA process, the HAF amendment process is not the right venue for this request.

It is old and maybe outdated now but there are some renderings for the 8 floor version here:

https://cdn.halifax.ca/sites/default/fil...ll/community-councils/240716hwcc1421.pdf

It looks decent. Modified to have a simpler flat roof, nicely restored house and some nice details along the lower levels. I hope this project proceeds.

During Agricola’s open street events, there are usually musicians set up in that lot doing performances. I was there for the last one, maybe a month ago, and the performer (a regular at these things) said it would be the last for a couple of years because work was going to start on this. Hopefully that’s correct.

The renderings look nice enough. The old house provides a nice visual distraction from what’s above it and overall the new and the old seem to blend well. The rooftop space looks good as well.

I went down a bit of a rabbit hole after this one popped up. I noticed this stretch of Agricola has improved over the years, but note how the colour palette has shifted (or disappeared) here:

I hope we've seen the peak of this trend.

I thought 50 Shades of Gray was a long time ago...

Trends come and go, and are often recycled to become trendy again.

This too shall pass.
