The Cheviot Hills-adjacent Fox Hills (named after the movie studio) is senior to the Culver City Fox Hills (possibly named after a
golf course on NY's Staten Island) by three years, 1923 vs. 1926.

The "Proposed Fox Studios" are at the upper right corner:

The Culver City Fox Hills started as a golf club (below, that should be Sentous, not Sentour):

I give the victory to the Culver City Fox Hills. It has stood the test of time.

Interestingly, another site at which Cy Saenz had earlier staged fights burned down in 1937:

Here's a snapshot of a man posing by the fountain in the courtyard of the Los Altos Apts.

Does anyone know if the fountain is still intact?

I am especially concerned about the little froggies.

Back to Culver City.

And remember that Culver City was also home to the Culver City Rollerdome.

eBay

"Ginger's party at the Culver City Rollerdome."

The seller thinks the young man with Ginger and Joan is Alfred Vanderbilt. If they're correct his father was lost on the Lusitania. (how's that for a nla coincidence!)

My kingdom for a photograph of the rollerdome. (I want to see it again - & I can't find it)

This picture comes from a Facebook post from about 18 months ago, so I'm guessing the fountain is still there.

I see that the center statue has gone from a peeing boy to a fancy lady with an urn.

If I remember correctly this is one of the bars that military personnel weren't allowed to go to in the 1940s.

. . .now it's a mystery location. (because I can't remember the address)
