In Saskatoon for the night on my way West, what a lovely riverwalk straddling downtown. Its a shame that downtown seems to roll up and shutdown at 7 o'clock haha.

The Americold cold storage facility under construction on the Saint John, New Brunswick waterfront.

Photo cred to who I think is the best drone photographer in Saint John and probably all of New Brunswick, jorgenrique217

The Saint John cityscape has a little layering too. 🥹

The Appalachian Uplands in the background.

Another mind-blowing NCC project by the Ottawa River. To situate everyone, behind the Château Laurier, we have Major's Hill Park by the Canal, with Parliament on a Hill across the Canal. North end of Major's Hill is the bustling Tavern on the Hill, near the new bridge to Kiweki Point behind the National Art Gallery, the new name of the newly redone Nepean Point, which is packed with people as well and offers some of the best views of Downtown Ottawa and Hull. This here is the continuation of that NCC waterfront development going behind the Royal Canadian Mint.

It's part of a project to restore a century old retaining wall. While they're at it, they'll create this new pedestrian space by the water.

If they can pull off the elevated walkway to look as good in those renderings, then yes it will be a spectacular project. Very cool and a great addition.

Maybe we should create a waterway thread. For now, Rideau Canal skateway flyover.

Question What's at the bottom of Halifax Harbour?

Since there's no Great Canadian Harbour's Bottoms thread

The underwater environment around NS is surprisingly rich and has a lot of animals that one might not expect, like brightly coloured fish or those electric torpedo rays he talks about. Dalhousie has a coral exhibit too (there are no coral reefs in NS, but there is isolated coral). It's too bad there isn't a significant aquarium on the Halifax waterfront that showcases these things. Vancouver has a great aquarium with Pacific exhibits. The Pacific and Atlantic marine ecosystems are both quite different.

I recall hearing last year about some Halifax Explosion debris that had been collected from the harbour floor that was soon going to be returned to the harbour because nobody knew what to do with it. This came to mind when I saw first a wreckage monument in the Canary Islands and again later in the winter when I came across a wreckage monument in Lisbon. We have roundabouts that could use some adornment...

The NCC has been spamming waterfront bistros and swimming areas the last few years. Here are the latest swimming areas; behind the Museum of Civilization in Hull, and by Entrance Bay (Rideau Canal Locks) in Ottawa.

The NCC seems to be on a roll these days. At last.

They've been transformative for the City the last few years. What we call the "new" NCC started about a decade ago, but since Tobi Nussbaum took over, it's been a whole ball game. He's pushed a few massive projects that have made the waterfront so much more accessible and lively.
