Today, it has been fully developed as part of a growing employment district. This represents net-new industrial and employment space, rather than displacement from existing urban areas.

The Oasis towers are so tightly spaced. I guess the curvature helps keep views more open.

Bummer there isn’t a single tennis court, which we really need, especially now that so many courts are being taken over by pickleball players. It’s nice, but in reality it’s just more space for people to let their dogs poop and not clean it up.

Bummer that there doesn't seem to be anything other than open fields with a walking loop around the outer edges. Compare this to Central Park - outside of the forested areas (which have plenty of walking paths) there's a baseball diamond, lawn bowling and Swanguard up neat Kingsway, and then further south there's an outdoor pool, tennis courts and pitch & putt. They couldn't put any of that in this park?

...that,...and also the fact that was founded, is owned and operated by the Municipality and city of Burnaby, and is funded and resourced by taxpayer dollars.

I didn't say all of it had to be included - just 'something'...

From the link: The park, set to be achieved in two construction phases, will be transferred by the developer to the City of Burnaby upon completion... So Burnaby will own and operate it. We can only hope they don't leave it as big open fields.

So it sounds like it was a 'lack of ambition and vision' thing on Concord's part more than anything.

They were happy to contribute the bare minimum, take their brownie points (and any bonus density) and then hand it off to the city.

And the city for their part,.......gift horse,.....mouth....all that.....

But look on the bright side if you're a Brentwooder,.....

You're getting a brand spanking new Community center next door at Grosvenor's Brentwood Block, whenever that completes.
Meanwhile Metrotowners have to make do with the increasingly aging (....and increasingly over-crowding...) Bonsor Rec center, that's badly in need of a major refurbishment/upgrade.

But yeah, .....you're right.
It would have been nice if they had done something 'more' to the park to make it more of a draw and have some feature or facility you could have there for an activity to make it worth going there for, even from farther out.

It wasn't so long ago that Burnaby had a survey asking people what they wanted of parks (could have been other things too - I don't remember all the details) and one big thing that came out of it is that parks need to be activated. People need something to do in the parks or it's mostly just empty space (which ok isn't a bad thing near a cluster of towers). Even if they just put some marks down for a sports field would be something.

I was in the area few weeks ago. Oh, how has this view changed in a decade...

Phase 2 is bringing nice variation to the massing of Phase 1.

Elevator and the ledge are such a nice, yet random features.

I do love the curves, although you can really only see them from near.

I am still surprised how short one of the Phase 2 towers is, but it will add variation to this very tall cluster.

Concord Brentwood really plots the mountain view from Highway 1.
