I’m surprised it’s not Subaru, it seems like that’s every other car in Portland.

I don't see that many new Telsa's driving around LA, but there are lots of them on the road still. In my neighborhood, just about half the people on my block have one.

Elon has been showing his true colors for many years now; it's not something that is recent. I personally wouldn't willingly purchase any product that he has anything to do with.

I find it quite troubling when I see a black person driving in a Telsa. I have two family members who purchased a Tesla, and another who does not own it but was provided a state vehicle for work he gets to take home.

I asked my nephew whom I love dearly like a son, why would you purchase a Telsa knowing how this fool have issues with black people. His response was, "I don't care about those things". My reply was I get some of it, but no way as a black person you should give this person any of your money, when this fool would rather see you dead.

The thing is, he wasn't even looking for an electric car but was in the market for a new car, but because he found out through a friend, they were offering great deals that were hard to pass up, so he purchased one. I bet he would care if they decided his government job was a DEI and let him go.

My brother in-law also purchased one, and I heard from my wife he was actually thinking of getting a 2nd one but changed his mind.

It doesn't look so bad by today's French standard, which is not great at all, unfortunately.
I wish French auto makers still were in premium vehicles like German brands Mercedes, Audi or BMW.
I guess local designers are just trying to survive Asian competition, that won't be easy.
My only concern is that that car is not even manufactured in France, but in Turkey and Slovenia.

When it comes to e-vehicles, Renault would still be the current winner, with their R5 électrique.

It is both cute and rather affordable as an e-car, so you pass by it somewhat frequently, though e-vehicles are not the ruling norm yet.
Also, that one is 100% made in France, from design to manufacturing.
So I kinda like it.
ha, i just posted about this (renault 5) in the skybar EV thread. i want one.

This is almost like a list of the cars that go 60mph max and won't get out of the passing left lane on the freeway.

Cold ass winters also mean most people want an AWD vehicle.

And here we are.
Same in Toronto. Rav-4, CRV basically 1a, 1b any year. We like our AWD vehicles.

Model Y AWD is $15k more than those 2 hybrid versions or $20k more than regular ICE.

This looks pretty nice. Americans tend to not be into (non-German or Swedish) European cars, but I could see this one doing well here in the big coastal cities.

Renault does not sell new cars in the US. There are no official Renault dealerships or repair facilities.

The new Renault Clio looks pretty nice. At least aesthetically it looks sharp like a Mazda CX-30 or CX-50. I'm curious how it feels inside and driving wise. I drove a 4th Gen Clio as a rental on an Italian road trip and it felt very much like a Nissan in terms of interior quality and engine feel and suspension tuning, meaning a noticeable drop in quality and performance compared to peer economy brands like Toyota, Honda, and Mazda. Unsurprisingly, when I looked it up later, it shares the same platform as other Nissan hatchbacks.

Some Italian and British brands are also competitive in the luxury market, and Fiat does sell a bunch here in the U.S. in the EV market.

Also: Bugatti is French, so they have a minimal presence in the American market. And definitely a presence in the cultural zeitgeist.

They tried. And failed. Once upon a time. And, for all intents and purposes, are prevented from trying again via their relationship with Nissan.

The Renaults sold here in the 80's were absolute shit boxes and disappeared as fast as they came. Which is too bad because I rode around in some really nice Renaults in France.
