This is more urban looking than I expected for this location. I used to think this Bayers/Oxford/Chebucto area was a bit underwhelming with lower density and a lot of empty looking old storefronts but that seem to be changing.

It is too bad the neon Look Ho Ho sign seems to have been replaced already with something OK but not quite as distinctive. I hope that little brick shop can stay in the long run, or at least the sign is preserved, and maybe even restored someday. It's a little bit of charm for that area. Much like the miniature flatiron "Gibsons" building on Chebucto Rd.

Maybe it's silly but instead of some public art objects I'd use portions that money for things like restoring/preserving neon signs. I understand maintaining something like that long past the period when it was a commercial norm may be a lot for a Chinese restaurant.

I agree and it actually would be more meaningful to the area than some half-hearted "art" installation that's done just to satisfy a condition of development. Most of the time they are pretty underwhelming.

Good lord, so many pages upon pages of useless boilerplate. I'm glad they specified the type of chain line fence and Jersey barriers they plan to use since everything could grind to a halt without that level of detail...

If I read it correctly it looks like Look Ho Ho will be staying? At least there will be one useful thing remaining in that case. The building itself is pretty ugly and generic.
