The data could also mostly be (maybe mostly is?) representing incomes of people who filed their tax return after moving to a different metro. That would be a good explanation for why there was such a huge movement from Cook, IL to Miami-Dade in 2022 - 2023, which coincides with Citadel's move to Miami.
