Good news, but I would say it's more likely 2024 (the Third Sister is not yet started).

Google Earth may be updated, but, Google Maps still has outdated imagery.

I received this email back in January regarding the Open Moncton satellite imagery on there website. Looks like that we are getting some updated high resolution for imagery taken this year and available for us in the fall.

I noticed last year that Google Earth had updated imagery, but Maps was way out of date.
However, I see Maps now has more recent imagery.
Shows the Station Yards land clearing, completed Avenir Centre, Three Sisters, buildings along Millennium Boulevard and a bunch of new streets in the north end.
But yeah, it wasn't from last year. I'd agree 2024 as the work on Main Street isn't shown, and the tower crane is still over the so-called Tomato Building.

I found the full PDF for the 6-story apartment building planned on Brandon St. It contains a couple of extra renders, but what I find interesting is that on the side of the pages, it says this building is for student housing

Moncton posted their infrastructure projects map for 2026
https://experience.arcgis.com/experience/f9546aba02434811ae27c57d68dd4e2c/page/EN/

Of note is the badly needed reconstruction of Elmwood drive from Massey to Lewisville

Nice pictures. Hard to imagine how such a facility could cost $30M. It's not that large, and will only have 8 treatment beds.

Very sad news. A true builder of Moncton. He will be greatly missed.

Once a Wildcat, always a Wildcat.

RIP Robert K Irving.........

It makes me profoundly sad that he never got to see the Wildcats win the memorial cup, his life's dream.

Unfortunately Moncton never had very much luck when it came to timing, in 2006 you had to deal with one of the greatest junior hockey players ever in Alexander Radulov, losing in a heartbreaking final game against a team you beat in a 7 game series. In 2010 the teams MVP goaltender gets a stomach virus and you also lost your best forward in Nicolas Deschamps to injury during the playoff run. Finally in 2025, you need to faceoff against Gavin McKenna (another one of the best junior players of all time) and the Tigres along with one of the top 5 junior hockey teams ever assembled in the 2025 London Knights, who had 4 players play NHL games in 2026.

I will never forget his legacy of bringing the MacDougall's to Moncton, forever changing the course of this franchise. Bringing hundreds and even thousands of new fans to the avenir centre, creating memories for each and every one of them that may have never happened otherwise.

I can't think of a better way to honor this mans contributions to the team and the city then hosting the 2028 Memorial Cup, with a bid all built around his name and legacy.

I saw posted on the Retail talk page, that the city has posted a notice in the subway buildings downtown. Telling them the building must be fixed or torn down.

It is indeed time to shit or get off the pot. The building is in danger of collapse and is a menace to passing pedestrians. I will be sad to see it go, but, the time has come. There is no white knight coming to rehabilitate the building.

My fear is that we will be stuck with a vacant lot in the heart of downtown for decades to come.

Or the owner does a quick "lipstick on a pig" job and it sits vacant for another 10 years.

I wonder how big of a challenge it would be to demolish the building? It almost looks like it's attached to the adjoining properties. I think it would be quite costly to tear it down. It'll be interesting to see what happens now that the city has given notice.

If you read the notice too.. it says Seville Properties. With all the new buildings they have in town.. I wonder why the never did anything there. Or were they waiting for this notice so they could tear it down and build new?

You may be right. The fact that Seville owns it is encouraging, but, the proximity of this property to the CNR main line remains a significant barrier to the building of anything really interesting.

Really a shame he never saw the Wildcats win the Memorial Cup, but at least he saw the team win the league championship three times under his tutelage.

Agreed it would be a very nice way to honor his legacy by granting Moncton the 2028 Memorial Cup. Has Moncton ever hosted the tournament at all?

Hopefully it isn't just torn down and left as a gravel parking lot. Moncton's slowly getting rid of all the parking lots (for the better), it would be bad if it slid back even slightly.

That an active developer owns the property is a good sign.

But being next to the tracks limits their options; they can only do a pure commercial/office/industrial lot; no residential component would be allowed. At least it's part of the core so a pure building would work.

If there are no projects nigh, then maybe the developer can just tear it down and sod over the space and toss in a few benches/picnic tables to make it a park in the mean time?
