I'm disappointed to see it's the same group as 26 Thai. It's basically a chain at this point. We need more independent places in town. Atlanta has such a great and diverse food scene, but it's still all out in the suburbs! Affordable and authentic food from all around the world is everywhere out there, but in town, a basic Thai meal at a satellite/chain is $30-40 with mandatory gratuity, while nearby spaces sit vacant for months/years

Would you rather see this space be filled with a successful and sustainable chain, or have an "independent" restaurant that occupies the space for a few months and then produces an empty storefront when it inevitably closes? You've been hanging around here long enough to know that these developments don't pencil by relying on businesses that can't afford to pay the rent.

I'm hoping that moving the Amtrak Station announcement to Centennial Yards is imminent.

I've heard hints that a big announcement is coming, would be awesome if that was it.

I've been operating under the assumption that after the WC we'll get a big announcement on the next phase. Hopefully that would or will include an Amtrak station, but I feel like its wishful thinking.

This would bring us one tiny step closer to my fantasy world in which a MARTA spur existed to serve Armor Yard, South Buckhead, Atlantic Station, West Midtown, and connected to the Blue Line in Bankhead. Meaning you could have single seat service from the Eastside all the way to North Springs or at least Lindbergh.

What is the status of the Constitution redevelopment? I thought they had already started. I drove by it yesterday, and it looks like nothing has happened. It's only about a block or two from The Gultch and The Center.

It's underway. I take the train downtown quite often and have seem them working. The plan was always to stabilize first. Use as a pop-up during the WC. Then do the more significant renovation after.

The good news... the tree growing on the roof is gone!

Drove by tonight on the way home. Bottom floor on the corner has some new windows. Bricks have been cleaned. Retail space doesn't look ready yet.

An SAP was filed for the new multifamily building between The Mitchell and the Russell Building.

I'm told the design is extremely well done, with two levels of ground story retail, a pedestrian passage, and a Z-shaped residential tower above. It was described as looking like it belongs on the harbor in Hamburg or Copenhagen.

Can't wait to see it.

Here's from Accela:

311 MITCHELL ST SW
This proposed project consists of 4 levels of structured parking between ground level and viaduct (P1-P4), retail at viaduct level (1), a mixed use level (2) consisting of retail, multifamily amenity and multifamily units, and then (10) levels exclusive to multifamily units/circulation above. There are 279 units in total.

That'd be the green line. I like the idea though. Only thing I'd change is have it go south from West Midtown to hit the Means Street area, maybe using what's left of the old Bankhead Avenue bridge for a connection west, and to Luckie-Marietta (by the Aquarium). Though, south of there, it might get kind of expensive trying to tie it in to the existing lines.

That is awesome. The gap there was starting to look prominent.

Some good news to offset the unfortunate branding of that hotel...
