I've looked been unable to find a comprehensive app or website that locates food carts in the city. I think that would be an amazing idea. Unfortunately it seems like it's mostly baed on word of mouth, outside a few carts that manage to be on things like yelp or google maps or get news story reviews. Or really big pods like Cartopia with their own website. Most carts do not seem to be on Yelp. It's hard (with kids) to just head somewhere hoping to find a good cart, and many pods are small enough to not have a website. There are some apparent attempts to do this on websites, but they are not updated or Travel Portland which only lists a select few of the larger ones (without noting all the pods).

Any recommendations? Maybe Travel Portland could get more involved in this. Such a selling point for Portland are all the carts/pods around the city.

Food Carts Portland used to have a map, but I think it was hard to keep up to date, and it no longer seems to be on their site.

Hollywood Q opened just steps from the Hollywood Theatre this month, bringing a brand new food hall and taproom to an already-buzzy stretch of Northeast Sandy Boulevard.

Hollywood Q soft opened in mid-April, though on-site brewing is still to come as equipment undergoes final maintenance, Taylor said.

As for dining, Hollywood Q’s food hall offers a diverse range of cuisines and restaurants — some of which already operate pods at Zoiglhaus’ The Zed. It seats 246, Taylor said.

So far, the list includes: Cappadocia, Coco Garden, Dona Carmen, Hamara, La Arepa, Poblano Pepper, Shiki Shiki Baba, Shucos, Sushi Chiyo and The Hot Box BBQ. Spotlight Brewing will also sell light Americana-inspired bites.

Just saw this, very cool! I miss the old restaurant that was kitty corner to the theater, now I can’t remember the name but the sign is still up. Love this neighborhood, and this is just what it needs.

I poked in on Hearth & Vine. (The old Henry's space in the Brewery Blocks in the Pearl). Very corporate & clean ... kind of hotel looking. They did keep much of the historic vibe. It was mid Saturday afternoon and I'd say they were about 1/3 full.

However, they are only using a fraction of the space. I forgot how big it is. The main room off Burnside is held for corporate events. All the upstairs spaces are all unused. I'm guessing they need to build some momentum first.

That's a bummer. I wish them well, but anybody moving into a space like that should be trying to embrace Portland's culture rather than make it generic. Not that Henry's did the best job of that either. It felt like a corporate pub rather than a local one.

Cay Bar & Grill Will Open in the Old McCormick & Schmick’s Harborside in Portland

A new Vietnamese restaurant will open in what was the McCormick & Schmick’s Harborside restaurant space for many years. It’s called Cay Bar & Grill, and they’ll offer “authentic Vietnamese cuisine with a modern bar experience.”

Look for a menu of traditional Vietnamese dishes like phở, bún (vermicelli noodle), cơm (rice plates), bò kho ( beef stew), bún bò Huế (beef noodle soup), fresh spring rolls, egg rolls, and more.

Look for a full bar with handcrafted cocktails, beer, and wine. And a happy hour menu, “since a lot of people are looking forward to that!”

This is not a small place. It’s 8,350 square feet, with 350 seats in the restaurant and 220 outside. When it was McCormick & Schmick’s Harborside, there were some private dining options, and it would not surprise me if that continued at Cay Bar & Grill.
The lovely riverside views will continue for sure—The Knot said the restaurant has “one of the most breathtaking views of Portland.”

They are hoping to open in the next one to two months. When that happens, they are looking at being open every day from 11am to 10pm. They plan to have recorded music, live music, DJs, and dancing.
