David Rae made a “promise” to Portlanders on Saturday night. It will delight sneakerheads.

The TEDxPortland driving force and former Nike creative director made his first public comments about opening a sneaker museum in Portland.

“I have had this idea in my mind for 10-plus years and now we are on the doorstep to making it happen,” Rae said, standing on the TEDxPortland stage next to 1803 Fund CEO Rukaiyah Adams. “We’re putting it on the board.”

Rae and Adams spoke briefly about the museum as part of Adams’ “pep talk” to Portlanders about a decade of transformative local projects.
