I think that the distances halfway from stations are walkable and given that central Broadway is part of the Metropolitan Core it makes sense to have consistency over a broad area.
This also allows older or larger buildings close to the transit stations to remain in place, rather than being pegged or cherry-picked for demolition and redevelopment (as the "only" sites for intense redevelopment).
The scope to Fraser St. is a bit far from Main St. though, since that would be about twice the distance as anything between stations.
By comparison, I don't think that the Brentwood Town Centre plan provides for nodal development around its 3 stations
