Yeah, I am very aware of that. I remember those days. I couldn't go to the playoff games. Because it was all sold out! I was watching the TV at home, but not at the games. It's so crowding! It was so busy!!

Awesome! Thank you for sharing this with me. Keep us posted as you can.

Phoenix NHL Advisory Committee

Piggybacking off the exciting news that the Cards are moving their training facilities to Desert Ridge and will build a mixed-use facility similar to The Star (Dallas Cowboys), the rumors are now starting regarding the Coyotes.

A couple of days ago, the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors created a new committee to explore the possibility of bringing back the 'Yotes. It's being led by Andrea Doan, Doanner's Wife.

I'm hearing/reading this is a serious thing and lots of smoke. Now that the Cards own that big piece of land up North, maybe a possibility. The training facility will only take up 30 acres of the total 217 acres.

Hoping all this development north of the 101 will finally give the 64th street extension some direction and purpose heading north.

I have doubt about that. They will consider it. Hope they extended the 64th St from Loop 101 North.

I saw that too. I saw the news. It is very exciting to see Cardinals is moving to North Phoenix near Scottsdale, AZ. I know where it is. Very near Desert Ridge.

Can we take away all local team's stadiums/arenas/practice facilities until they all commit to putting a winning product on the field/court? This is a very painful period to be a sports fan in Phoenix. Usually one of the big 4 would be doing well enough to give something worth looking forward to. I can't recall when they were all trash like this.

Last night man, gave up 20pt lead to lose by 2. :| Was Kyler in the building?

Yeah, they are fun to watch suddenly, hope they can continue to grow as a team. Remind me a bit of how the team played the year they went to finals. Very scrappy and energetic. Can they keep it up all year and turn it into a playoff appearance? Or play just well enough to avoid a lottery pick?

Really?? I didn’t know that! They are doing so well. Last season, they didn’t go on playoffs, but they fired head coach. Because of the players were injuries. He tried to win the game and he didn’t get the chance to the playoffs. Hopefully new head coach will get a chance to win the game and he can get a good shot at the playoffs again in the future. We’ll see how he plays this year though.

They are playing very well while dealing with injuries as every team has. But we been without Jalen Green pretty much the whole year, he played 1 game and scored 29 points, the next game he reinjured his hamstring and been out ever since. I think he rushed back a little too soon. But I really like our team and we couldn’t have asked for Dillon Brooks to be any better than he has been. If Mark Williams stays healthy we have a real shot at becoming a real good team. I believe OKC and Denver are probably the favorites this year but I believe we could make some noise, maybe win a series. I think we are a for sure playoff team but it will as always come down to health.

Mesa council vote on Fiesta Mall project could clear way for Major League Soccer team

MLS to the Valley??

Once a mecca for East Valley shoppers, the now-barren 80-acre Fiesta Mall site in Mesa could soon be a magnet for Major League Soccer fans.

The Mesa City Council voted unanimously on Wednesday to approve a deal with the land owner and a developer that gives the property special tax treatment under a rarely used state law.

A deal summary prepared for the council says the land will be developed with “restaurants, retail, lodging, offices, and a multiuse stadium that could include soccer.”

12News has learned that both an MLS team and a National Women's Soccer League team are being pursued.

“The Phoenix metropolitan area is a great place for it, and we're able and willing to court them,” Mayor Mark Freeman said in an interview after the council meeting. “MLS, women's soccer… and there could be other sports venues as well.”

It was a low-key, big deal.

Chase Field: Who is on the new stadium district board, what are 1st renovations?

I'm REALLY interested to see what ownership's plans will be to develop around the ballpark. Hopefully we get details and renderings soon.

In the meantime, the video board is finally being upgraded.

When fans enter Chase Field this spring for Arizona Diamondbacks baseball, they will view a new video board and two new ribbon boards.

The stadium’s roof will also have gone through repairs following last summer’s passing of a tax recapture bill that set up funding for ballpark repairs, D-backs president and CEO Derrick Hall told KTAR News 92.3’s Mike Broomhead Show.

Uh-oh! Did I miss something? When they will start renovation? Probably 3-5 years from now? I am not sure when it will be completion.

Could pro hockey anchor Phoenix's entertainment district?

Can anyone get more details on this article? It’s paywalled.

The first few paragraphs mention the possibility of hockey:

Two years after the Arizona Coyotes left the state and moved to Utah, securing a National Hockey League team for Arizona appears to be a priority, as leaders in government, real estate, sports and entertainment plan for the future of downtown Phoenix.

Paul Rivers, chief innovation officer for Player 15 Group, the umbrella brand for Suns and Mercury owner Mat Ishbia’s holdings, discussed the possibility, without specifically mentioning the Coyotes or hockey, at a panel discussion as part of the Arizona chapter of Urban Land Institute’s Trends Day event.

“If it’s going to find its way back to the Valley, we have to make sure there’s a proper place for that particular sport to play,” Rivers said. In 2024, following the Coyotes' departure, Ishbia said he wanted to bring hockey back to downtown Phoenix.
