Squamish Canyon is a brand new nature attraction with a nice 1.5 kilometer walk through some beautiful forest floor.
The attraction opened already back in August, but the crowds have yet to discover it, as it is pretty hidden. We happened to come across it on social media and decided to check it out.
Building and elevated walkway in middle of forest and over a deep canyon cannot have been easy or cheap. What they have done is very impressive and well implemented.
We visited in mid-January when the creek wasn't at its full flow.
One of the most impressive detail is how they have had to work around an active Forest Service Road and have the route go under the bridge. How they managed to retrofit everything is beyond me.
Mamquam Falls has been featured a lot on social media in recent years and the falls can still be accessed without paying the entry fee.
Towards the end there is a nice little cafe and children's playground.
While not cheap, we thought Squamish Canyon exceeded our expectations and was a worthwhile visit. There isn't a lot of reasons to visit more than once, but it is worth seeing and the crowds having not yet discovered it makes it nice and quiet compared to some other Squamish sights.

It's not cheap at $39 per person, but much reasonable than the ridiculous $79 that entry to Sea to Sky Gondola or Capilano Suspension Bridge are these days.
How accessible is the Squamish walk. The Mallahat Tower is easily accessible.
Accessible in terms of accessibility? It has lots of stairs, so it is not accessible.
Accessible in terms of getting there? It's 5km from Squamish at the end of a gravel road. Most people will drive there and parking is free, but it is easy to get to by car.

The colours are amazing. Most wouldn't expect to see blues in a forest unless they were flowers or pockets where the sky peeks through.
I'd pay that price to walk through.
The phone-mount is a good idea. I wonder how many people drop theirs when trying to take a picture off a high elevation? (I was in Lisbon a few years ago and took some photos from the Santa Justa Lift holding my phone on the other side of wire fencing, not thinking that if I dropped it someone far below would likely be killed)

That's such a rip-off, I'll still go, though as I'm a sucker for any trail with a boardwalk. I doubt I will convince any of my family to pay that price to go on a nature trail when they are all surrounded by forests and trails on the coast. And the Sea to Sky Gondola is $79 now? Wow! I guess they need to pay for having to fix it after it was vandalized and taken out of commission twice now. I've ridden it twice, and it's one of my favorite Gondolas.
I just looked up the Peak to Peak, and it's $152 for an adult! That's insane!

To be fair, they've put a lot of money into the Capilano Suspension Bridge area with an extensive elevated treetop walking trail and cliffside suspension trail. It's still expensive, but you could fill a few hours there. It's best to go around late afternoon and stay until dusk. They light the forest up really nicely when it gets dark.
If you just want to walk on a suspension bridge in the same forest, Lynn Canyon Suspension Bridge is totally free.
I’ve been out of the loop on prices for a good decade now.
I’ve been to both Capilano Suspension Bridge and the Sea to Sky Gondola within the last five years, but I got to do so with free entry because of a project I was working on at the time, so I didn’t take note of the entrance fees, but all I can say is, Wow!!! Talk about being out of reach for the majority of working families.
In my mind reasonable admission fees for such attractions are still between $10 to $20 for an adult. Even $25 would be really pushing it IMO.
The last time I paid admission for Capilano Suspension Bridge was around a decade ago, and I swear it was under or near $30, and for BC residents it came with free re-admission for an entire year, making it a reasonable deal.

I've never really given it much thought but after going on google earth in satellite view I can't even find 1km.

Only 410m but I agree, that's probably the best I've seen. Nice find! There are longer bits where it's a brook so tiny you could step over it, but they're scattered around.
