They honored this Saga just as much as Lucasfilm honored the Skywalker Saga...they didn't. Also so great that they announce this the day before...along with announcing a tow in the pitch black hours before sunrise. This is incredibly depressing...but hey keep faith because out of everything they're preserving the funnels!!

The fuck

Maybe it will tip over right after it leaves. It will just be laying there for months like a rotting dead whale for the world to see. A metaphor like that should hit people like a brick to the side of the head.

The pier owners must be beside themselves. Move it already.

They just moved it to Pier 80 yesterday. They were scheduled to move the ship out at 11:18 am on Monday...but it's recently been stated by the Conservancy that due to high winds the ship will now move at 12:29 pm on Tuesday

I wanted to catch it at Battery Park in Old New Castle, DE but I can't figure out at this point about what time that would be.

The ship is currently passing the Airport and Paulsboro at 4.4 knots. I'd get there soon

The first funnel and mast have been taken off the ship in Mobile, Al today. What the hell is the point of preserving the funnels when you can preserve the whole fucking ship

The symbolism is like a club to the head.

It was recently announced that the ship will be sunk in early 2026 and they have found a location. The location to me should be right back to Philadelphia. Hell, I'd weld those funnels back on with no experience myself. No pay either

This whole saga is really strange both for how the preservation failed to gain a big name donor partner to save such an important and symbolic piece of maritime technology and history, but also the way the drop-a-ton-of-bricks-on-your-head subtlety and death of irony failed to really get noticed by national media. I mean, goodness gracious, something called the "United States" --- a rusting and decaying former leader of the world --- failing to have the people rally behind something good and critically important in time, is destined to be mutilated and scuttled off the coast of --- wait for it --- Florida.

The sad jokes write themselves.
