New 2-stage music venue coming to Underground Atlanta

https://www.atlantanewsfirst.com/2025/05/22/new-2-stage-music-venue-coming-underground-atlanta/
Quote:
A new music venue is coming to Underground Atlanta as city leaders continue to emphasize Downtown‘s revitalization.

Undertaken by the Atlanta-based firm Lalani Ventures, Ravine at Underground will be a 180,000-square-foot space with two stages — one for 6,000 attendees, and the other for 2,500.

“We are thrilled to introduce Ravine at Underground to downtown Atlanta as a bold and fresh take on an iconic music hall,” Lalani Ventures CEO Shaneel Lalani said in a statement. “It will be a vibrant space to celebrate culture and community, with the capacity to welcome a large crowd of concertgoers.”

The development marks Ravine’s return to the music scene. From 2018 to 2021, the company was at 1021 Peachtree Street in Midtown, hosting performances from artists like Kaskade and Dom Dolla and private gatherings for Lil Baby, 2 Chainz, Maroon 5 and more.

The Ace Hardware in Midtown is going out of business. Really excited that I get to gas up the car and drive to another part of town every time I need a tool or a screw.

Yeah we lost our Ace Hardware in East Atlanta Village about 15 years ago. We could (and did) walk to it. Now any Ace Hardware is a drive for us.

Been over 6 months since remodeling was complete. Any word on if this is still on. Looks like the office building is sitting vacant.

EDIT: Damn, just noticed this almost looks like the exact same pic I took back in March.

The original tenant was cancelled because the interior renovations were way more extensive than was originally planned I heard.

Centennial Yards - Khao Thai Isan to open at The Mitchell

Khao Thai Isan, a Thai tapas restaurant, will open next year at The Mitchell, the first residential ground-up building completed within the $5 billion Centennial Yards mixed-use development in Downtown Atlanta. The new concept is from sisters Niki and Tanya Pattharakositkul, who were born and raised in Thailand and are also behind Atlanta-area Thai restaurants 26 Thai, Pink Lotus, Blackjack Bar Tapas and the forthcoming Terminal 26 at Ponce City Market.

It's been a while since I've had out of town guests visit Atlanta and had the pleasure to show a couple from Mexico, on their 1st visit to the US, around the area over the holidays. They went several places on their own with a MARTA pass and found it very easy and safe to get around.

A few random thoughts:
Atlanta, especially its neighborhoods, is still a great city to show off. They commented multiple times about how beautiful it is and the friendliness of the people. Good to know we still got it.

They are huge sports fanatics and went to a Falcons game (win!) and a Hawks game (loss). Mercedes-Benz Stadium impressed them with its design, quality and price of food/drinks, and the crowd size and energy. If a game is out of the question, there is a very reasonably priced and informative tour of the stadium that includes locker rooms and walking out on the field (depending...). They didn't have much to say about State Farm Arena.

We spent over 4 hours at the High Museum. It's been a while since I've been there and the permanent collection is either much improved or better arranged (or both). The decorative and folk arts have been well represented but now other areas seem just as impressive. The exhibit for designers Viktor & Rolf is fantastic, if you like fashion. It's a huge collection and is well displayed. Their 1st US show is definitely worth the visit.

There was a great fireworks and simple but fun drone show in Piedmont Park on New Year's Eve. I hope the city can step it up, drone-wise, for the World Cup.

I dragged them through The Hyatt Regency and Marriott Marquis one afternoon. They are impressive buildings to show off. Although anyone can still go up the elevators in the Marriott, apparently a key is needed for the Hyatt.
We exited at the Peachtree Center station and it's an embarrassing, disgusting mess. The stench about knocks you over and every inch of the station was filthy. Several broken tiles, water stains and malfunctioning fare gates added to the ambiance. I hope MARTA can step it up, everything-wise, for the World Cup.

The Garden Lights, Holiday Nights display at the Atlanta Botanical Garden was also worth the price of admission. I haven't been in a few years and saw several new additions. We got there around 5 so we could see a few things that would not be lit up after dark. Crowded but fun.

Cafe Agora is always a great choice for dinner.

The delivery robots in Midtown may not be efficient but they are entertaining. With the number of them I've seen motionless, staring at a tree or telephone pole, I can't imagine food it still edible by the time it arrives.

On their next visit, for World Cup, we'll visit a few of the other unique to Atlanta sites like Puppetry Arts Center, Carter Center, Civil Rights Museum and Carlos Museum (they have no interest in Coke Museum).

Wild Heaven Brewery announced on Tuesday that it had acquired EATS, which closed its location along Ponce de Leon Avenue near Ponce City Market in October after 32 years. Wild Heaven said additional details, including menu updates, timeline specifics, and special events, will be shared in the coming weeks.

^Yeah and a bunch more, for example there are a couple in Midtown with work underway (including another revolving sushi place) and I'm excited for SugarLoaf in Reynoldstown and the reincarnation of Eats in Lee+White. A lot of local blogs/media have focused on restaurant closings in the past few months (especially in West Midtown) but to me it just seems like a medium amount of turnover.
