Does anyone recognize the building under construction? ..To me it looks like it's going to be a Walgreens.

It's the entrance to the Starlight Bowl, though that structure appears to no longer exist.

We're looking along Wilshire Boulevard from Flower Street. The Pegasus Apartments (as they are now) are on the right and the Rex Arms is visible in the distance. I believe that the "the building under construction" is actually being taken down. This undated photo shows Carver's Tailor Shop, although the 1956 and early '60s CDs list Chas Levy and Son tailors at 800 Wilshire Boulevard. The current building at that address is a 16-story block built in 1972.

And to tie L.A.'s infamous whodunit to San Francisco's, the Zodiac, just makes your jaw drop! There's been so much written about both of these that you just have to wonder at the scope of fact and speculation and misinformation that both of these have engendered. At least the Zodiac whodunit has a great movie about it. This one needs a good one, too.

Photo of the Starlight Bowl, likely from the 1950s. The Starlight Bowl was dedicated June 17, 1951. It was built at a cost of $175,000 with an original capacity of 2500 people. The site, “a natural amphitheater with good acoustics created by curving mountain slopes,” according to the Los Angeles Times, had already been home to performances for decades before the Bowl was built. Easter sunrise services were popular events in the unimproved space going back to the 1930s and the Burbank Symphony Orchestra held successful concert series there in the 1940s. The amphitheater, officially known as the Burbank Starlight Theater, was designed by architect E. Dean Cowley. Cowley was an executive of the Burbank Symphony Orchestra Association, the group that led the drive for the construction of the Bowl, according to the Times. Construction on the Bowl began in July, 1950.

Lwize, the CRIMES OF THE TIMES article was an interesting read but I highly doubt Elizabeth Short's murderer and the Zodiac Killer were the same person.

I searched for the Zodiac Motel in the city directories and I got zero hits. . .but I was able to track down the newspaper ad - althought it isn't from 1955, it's from 1946. (even better!)

How about a difficult mystery location to start the week-

I happened upon this very cool snapshot yesterday on eBay

It show a dapper gentleman astride his motorcycle with a girl on the back.

Seller's description:..VINTAGE PHOTOGRAPH FASHION MOTORCYCLE CARS GLENDALE LOS ANGELES CALIFORNIA PHOTO

The only clue - as to the exact location- is the large apartment building in the background on the right. I know it's a shot in the dark but I thought one of you fine sleuths might recognize it.

Oh, and does anyone recognize the make of the motorcycle?

I was watching Wishmaster 2: Evil Never Dies (1999) when I came across this shot:

Does anyone recognize where this was taken? It looks so familiar, but I just can't place it...

It looks a bit like Mateo St, it looks a bit like S. Mission Road, it looks a bit like the neighborhood around the DWP Receiving Station F, but none of those work out.

PS: Online sources say the movie was filmed “entirely” in Los Angeles.

I'm a bit confused how a business with an address on Santa Fe Avenue could be on the corner of two other streets. I checked and it's not a five cornered intersection.

Also, is El Segunda the female version of El Segundo?
