Rumour is out by the airport somewhere.

https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/mayor-keeping-close-watch-on-new-strip-club-1.242762 found this interesting article from 25 years ago. Nude dancing was not allowed in the province. I assume that changed? I can't imagine folks lining up for gstrings and tassels.

I thought they only lasted this long because they were grandfathered in. They're allowed to move to a new location? That's disappointing.

They were grandfathered. My suspicion is that the city pressured them to sell to allow for a significant development, but they only agreed if the city promised to allow them to continue their trade elsewhere (likely in an industrial zone) without any civic interference.

Well placed sources have confirmed the sale and the move. Apparently Angie's may be destined for Englehart Street near the airport.

The source also said that they believed a substantial apartment building is planned for the current Angie's site.

Photo showing signage outside of the IGA/Co-op on Dieppe Blvd. The sign shows a rendering of what the expansion and refresh of the store will look like (photo courtesy of Jeff Boucher).

This is actually a Quebec based chain. You can find things here you will not find elsewhere in the metro area. It is worth a visit to check things out.

New business coming to the strip mall on Paul Street containing Moore's mens wear.

Artful Wares is a new arts supply store. This will bring this plaza back to 100% occupancy.

Vacant CRUs are becoming scarce in the metro area again (at least desirable ones).

I have been advised that when Angie's makes their move out to the airport neighbourhood, it will also be renamed to GBB's Show Palace.

Curious the business is rebranding. Was it sold at the same time as the decision to relocate was made? Angie's as a name has a lot of brand recognition around here.

The name "GBBs Showpalace" was on google maps as long as a year ago for the current location so it was either a planned name change or was sold sometime in 2024.

99.9% sure that was a joke. No local business, even Angie's, would ever take on the GBB brand, lol

It's wild that there are people in town who aren't familiar with GBB and the lore that surrounds him. You guys are probably better off that way.

Looks like I'm stuck with Jessica's Song in my head all day.

Perhaps we'll be getting an ALT Hotel like in Halifax? The Alt Hotel has Sosta Pizzeria housed in it.

Is there any chance a hotel could be built right on site?

I was thinking about the lot between VW/Audi and the airport exit onto Highway 15. That's zoned commercial. It would be ideal however if it were connected directly to the terminal. They might be able to accomplish this by building the hotel to the south of the terminal building.

ALT would be fantastic! I wonder if Sandman does airport hotels? That would be nice too, and Sandman has Denny's.

This may be another Gray group project. They were behind the Microtel in Summerside, as well as the one in Antigonish. They had a plan to build one at the airport in Halifax, so this could be another one of those.

Good point! And the Gray Group seems to be doubling down on projects in greater Moncton at present.

If they want to connect the new hotel directly to the terminal, could they switch the parking lot to the land you referenced, and build the hotel where the parking lot is now? They could design a walk-through to the terminal from the parking lot.
