1968 ad claimed World Trade Center would pose ‘risk to air navigation’

Sept. 11 tragedy bore an almost precise resemblance to image in ad

On May 2, 1968, the Committee for a Reasonable World Trade Center -- created, in part, by then-real estate mogul Lawrence Wien -- ran an ad in the New York Times (seen above), warning that the World Trade Center could have catastrophic ramifications.

In a New York Times article that details the journey of building the World Trade Center, the magazine detailed how Wien rounded up nearly every major real estate power in Midtown to create the committee, which took out full-page attack ads in newspapers across the city.

Wien warned that the World Trade Center could wreak havoc in the real estate market on a scale “not seen since the Depression,” and that it was not only unrealistic, but that it was dangerous.

He went as far to say that it would not only endanger thousands should there be a fire or explosion, but also suggested that “an airplane might someday hit the World Trade Center, with disastrous consequences.”

the unheralded feb 13, 1975 wtc fire

On the 11th floor of the North tower, a fire broke loose to the 9th-14th floors of the building. At the time, there was no sprinkler systems installed in the building. It took firefights two hours to put out the fire. It also damaged a few floors below the 9th floor from water being sprayed onto the fires.

a 19y.o. was charged with arson.

Does this image still exist?

Also looking back at the unfinished roof of the north tower, the very base of the large central antenna was present. Though they had that smaller tower on the west side of the roof. Was the large central antenna always planned before 1973?

The problem is that the actual visible building has only 7 visible floors starting at the Plaza Level, but there is an additional lower level on the Concourse Level. While this section is at the same level as the Mall at the World Trade Center, it isn't actually connected to the mall in any way, and instead originally had a direct entrance/exit on Vesey St., as can be seen in these images:

You can see the seven upper floors, and the lower street level doors of 6 WTC.
Actually, I think that section was connected to the mall since most of that section was used for storage.

Also, the hotel was connected to the mall as shown in this video of the original concourse. https://youtu.be/n-0dCt-EQOg?t=774
