According to my calculations, Gore would have won the 2000 Presidential Election, and quite decidedly, had Canada been part of the United States at the time.

I think it's fair to say that in the long term, Republicans may not want any part of this idea of Trump's to merge our two counties. Democrats, on the other hand

Canada has long craved attention and recognition from the the US, as much as most don't want to admit it.

So while it's true that most Canadians do not want to merge with the USA, I think most Canadians are quite enjoying our 15 minutes of fame in the US news cycle at the moment.

Anyways, what do y'all think? Is this crazy idea floated by Trump something that people take seriously in the US, or do most people think it's just some outrageous negotiating strategy from Trump?

Either way, it's an interesting, throughout provoking discussion.

Cheers from the Great White North.
I don't think Trump is looking to take over Canada by force obviously, I think he wants a more closely aligned North America with similar arctic defense and economic security interests, and it's mainly about keeping Chinese influence out of the North American continent as a whole.

I think he tends to say inflammatory statements because it attracts the media like flies to **** and they get people talking en masse about the issues he wants. It tends to work so it's a strategy he keeps using.
