City council approved $120 million for downtown infrastructure spurred by the World Cup. That will have a pretty large impact. From Councilmember Farokhi:

On October 21, City Council approved the issuance of a $120 million infrastructure bond to improve Downtown streets and sidewalks. The funds are, in part, necessary in preparation for the 2026 World Cup. However, I was pleased to work with Councilmembers Jason Dozier and Matt Westmoreland, as well as the administration, to ensure that we prioritized projects whose impact would be felt long after the sporting event. All told, the money will go towards 25 miles of street resurfacing, re-striping of 200 intersections, the installation of 150 new street lights, and 14 miles of sidewalk repairs (including overdue Americans with Disabilities Act improvements).
