Forsyth could offer $390M subsidy to Gathering arena — if the NHL comes

https://www.ajc.com/news/atlanta-news/fo...roposed-deal/QF5JDEJQN5GMBPKA7TK6UY5TFI/

Quote:
Forsyth County leaders formalized negotiations Wednesday that could lead to taxpayers providing nearly $400 million in subsidies to the developer of $2-plus billion hockey arena and mixed-use development, with the caveat that the project lands an NHL expansion franchise.

The county’s board of commissioners voted 4-1 to enter into a non-binding memorandum of understanding with the development team behind The Gathering at South Forsyth, one of metro Atlanta’s largest potential projects. It would also mark yet another request for substantial taxpayer support for a stadium or arena deal in metro Atlanta, following Mercedes-Benz Stadium, Truist Park and the recent renovations to State Farm Arena.

Anson Carter announced that he and the Alpharetta Sports & Entertainment have formally initiated the expansion process for a team to play in the North Point area of Alpharetta.

Carter described Alpharetta Sports and & Entertainment Group as a “hockey-first ownership team.” The ASE Group also is partnering with New York Life, a Fortune 100 company, for a potential mixed-use development at the North Point Mall site.

The proposal includes a state-of-the-art arena, practice facilities and a professional-level outdoor stadium for soccer or lacrosse along with residential and retail space. The group did not disclose any financial information in Tuesday’s release.

Northside Gwinnett Hospital Expansion:
While I was in that area, I remembered: We haven't had an update on this project since the photograph I took last year. I tried to find the exact same spot from last year. Again, they charge for parking if you enter their campus. That shopping center is on a hill.

An update on this Lawrenceville construction project from almost a year after the last photograph:

Surface parking hater here, but I like the way the street and town homes segue into the apartment complex. It seems so normal and grid-like. I'm used to the convoluted, gated messes we normally get with this kind development.

Third & Urban pitches major Brookhaven project

https://www.bizjournals.com/atlanta/news...nt&utm_medium=social&utm_source=linkedin
Quote:
A mixed-use developer is proposing a major overhaul to a sprawling, aging office park on the doorstep of the freshly built Children's Healthcare of Atlanta campus.

Third & Urban plans to redevelop Corporate Square into a walkable community with ample housing, retail and green space to serve Brookhaven's fast-growing job center along North Druid Hills Road. Located off Buford Highway, the 32-acre site is on the opposite side of Interstate 85 from Children's Arthur M. Blank Hospital and Emory University's forthcoming Executive Park innovation district.

The collection of underperforming office buildings and surface parking lots would be replaced with up to 2,000 residential units, consisting of a mix of apartments, senior residences, corporate housing units and townhouses. The developer also envisions a 350-key hotel, 30,000 square feet of retail, 100,000 square feet of medical office space and a public plaza.
