Montgomery Skyline

Northern Blvd is the best view of downtown. From that view, I don't think the visibility of the Capitol would be compromised if the buildings are west of it (near the RSA tower all the way towards the old Advertiser printing plant). There are plenty of spots that can be utilized. Even if other buildings need to go or be remodeled.

Ex. The Grand Amway Hotel in Grand Rapids has a tower that's attached to it. The original hotel was finished in 1913. The glass tower was completed in 1983.

Speaking of the Advertiser's old printing plant... that area could house a 3 tower development or so.

Hmm, on that note, here's a little info of a failed tower project downtown decades ago:

In the '80s developer John Q Hammonds had plans to build a hotel tower at the site of the old 10-story Frank Lue building as a Convention Center Hotel. The Mayor at that time, Emory Folmar, and Hammonds couldn't agree on a certain incentive package for imploding the Frank Lue building and building a parking deck for the hotel, so the 21-story project fell through. Years later Hammons built the 8-story Embassy Suites on the other side of the Civic Center in the Union Station parking lot. It opened around 1995.

Airport Upgrades

I've heard that the Airport is doing really well money-wise and passenger growth. It added an extra flight to Dallas and Atlanta each recently and possibly another flight to Charlotte coming soon. There are rumors of adding a hotel at the airport to the left if you're looking at the baggage claim from Selma Highway and also freight capabilities and terminal by the traffic control tower. Has anyone heard the same?

I flew out of MGM (for sh*ts and giggles) this year in July. I was impressed by it. It was very comfortable and appropriate for its level of traffic. Had a good experience.

Recent developments in workplace organization have brought attention to changing patterns in office space utilization. Digital systems for space management, such as UnSpot provide examples of current approaches to these challenges. Security features, including two-factor authentication, reflect standard practices in modern access control. Research indicates that flexible scheduling often leads to organic patterns of team collaboration. The integration of booking platforms with existing workplace tools demonstrates the interconnected nature of contemporary work environments. Analysis of space utilization data offers insights into actual workplace needs and patterns. These observations contribute to our understanding of how modern workplaces continue to evolve and adapt.
Such projects have precedents. For instance, in New York City, the 52-story Union Carbide Building at 270 Park Avenue was demolished to make way for a new, more impressive office tower. This demonstrates that, under certain circumstances, replacing existing skyscrapers with larger developments is feasible.

Big news at the airport. United is coming with direct flights to Houston. Hopefully, additional flights and destinations are coming as well.

The airport is also replacing the old baggage claim with a new one featuring two carousels.

Great news! Flew out of MGM last year to CLT because it was cheaper than BHM. Nice little terminal, it was fun watching the F-35s fly by at such low altitude; glad it's getting another connection!

Well, yes, but I'm assuming some law would have to be passed to allow these buildings to surpass the height of the Capitol. That being said, I don't think Montgomery has the kind of office/residential demand to support so much construction...

New State House

The new Alabama Statehouse is really coming along. It is massive. It will fit better into the Capitol area when the old building is removed and the new park is completed. Had not see the parking deck behind the capitol building until today. The facade is nice.
