Onni Group Proposing 7-Tower Coquitlam College Master Plan

he proposal is still at an early stage, with Onni Group submitting their development application in October 2023 and introducing it to Council today. No bylaw readings will be considered today.

According to presentation slides set to be presented to Council, the Coquitlam College Master Plan will include a total of seven high-rise towers constructed in three phases.

Phase One would include a 44-storey rental tower and a 39-storey strata tower along Brookmere Avenue. The second phase would then see a 50-storey strata tower and 48-storey strata tower constructed immediately towards the south of the first phase. The third and final phase would then make up the eastern half of the site and consist of a 34-storey strata tower, 37-storey strata tower, and 28-storey rental tower. The towers are generally taller towards the west, which serves as a transition to the taller towers planned further towards the west.

Be weary of the SkyRise Cities problem of having too many threads (often identified by numbered addresses) making it tedious to find threads for posting.
If there aren't going to be frequent updates for a project, I personally prefer a catch-all thread like this Tri-Cities Updates thread (or General Vancouver Updates or Broadway Corridor Updates).

That also avoids multiple posts where panoramas or area shots are posted showing more than one building.

There could be a Burquitlam Area Updates or West Coquitlam Area thread?

In this case Metrotown and Brentwood may have own threads.

I'd agree that would be good.
Just really significant (multi-tower or really tall) projects would get their own threads.
Otherwise, the number of threads will jump exponentially with all the projects.

In my personal opinion a thread isn’t worth it if it’s going to end up less than 5 pages or so of updates and discussion. That would apply for most single tower/phase projects that aren’t notable (by location or architecture).
I do believe just about every multi-phase project should have its own thread.

As for further splitting the general threads I will think about this and see what would work. We did only split up most municipalities from the suburban general thread last year.
I’ll start a thread later to discuss this.

Update on 2992 Glen Drive.

Also an update on 3650 Westwood Street, Port Coquitlam. Excavation is underway but the fence is tall so I couldn't get a picture from over it. Might not be an easy location to get pictures in the future.

I may have posted this before but they have application signage on the site now, will replace the Dennys, Scotia Bank and North Road Plaza. This will be a block or so away from another large 7 tower proposal just to the North of Austin. 13 towers between these two proposals.

Yes, lots going on there. I was actually walking through the area yesterday. There are now two cranes up on the site behind the blue crane in that picture.

Funny how Burquitlam is seeing more development than the supposed Downtown Coquitlam. Burquitlam has the advantage of being closer to the rest of the region, as well as access to forest/nature within walking distance. One of the nicer development areas in Metro Vancouver.
