It's only a one-time fee for the ARC Card. It's not like they're charging you $6 annually or every time you need to add more coin to your card.

Sure, but why not incentivize the ARC, transit usage and convenience by no charge or a nominal charge of at best.

Since when did 'cost recovery' enter into the ETS vocab?

Lots of other cities requirement payment for a reloadable card. I don't understand all the drama over this point.

That they do, but why not use it as a marketing and enrolment opportunity to drive ridership, new riders and encourage folks?

I remember as a teenager riding on the LRT on the 1st day it was open back in 1978. It was big fanfare at the time and rightly so. It seemed like anyone and their dog came out to ride the train from belvedere to central.
Not sure how long it was free to ride but I think it was free for at least a weekend. With other stations opening up over the years, there was not the same fanfare as 1978 but it was still special to take the train to these new stations for the first time.

It sure seems that the line is going to open very very soon. To many small things happening around the different stations suggesting that its being readied for people to take the train.

How will the City and TransEd celebrate its opening? A subdued event because of its lateness or will they want to celebrate a bit? I am looking forward to being on it when we get the word.
