At least the parking is adding to the height of the structure. Also, a decent facade will cover the garage portion of the structure.

True, I live in a Charlotte suburb. It would take me 25 minutes to get downtown by car, over an hour by public transit.

Construction of the new central library in uptown Charlotte is beginning soon. Demo of the old library began last month.

Glad they are building the library. Uptown needs more investment. Southend has definitely pulled the cool vibes that direction.

Yes, it's great to see the city making a bold choice like this to update a public use space like this. The old library was anything but inviting.

I live in uptown. We definitely need more growth on the north side. This area has a ton of potential. Any update on Vela Uptown? There hasn't been many updates on that new apartment tower. The old Museum of the New South building is still there with no signs of demolition.

I agree, there needs to be more updates. There is an insane amount of development in the city. I'll try to do the same.

The lack of charlotte updates on here is a bummer. I get people shifted to urbanplanet years ago but wish we’d get more updates here.

Charlotte has just had a devil of a time revitalizing the North Tryon corridor. All of the accompanying development for the library has fallen apart. And across the street a Publix has been planned for years.

Thank you for all your recent updates on here. I haven't lived in Charlotte for a number of years (I live in Austin), but travel back occasionally and am always impressed by the rapid development. I'll try to post on here more too. I've found some sites with good updates, but just haven't had time to pull from them to make posts here.
