I'd be interested to learn how they're crunching the numbers for solar. Maybe they're excluding the cities?
See, because of our high latitude and cloud cover, Canada has an average solar capacity factor of 6%; America has 15% (
page 91); statistically, BC Hydro would have to install 2.5x the panels to get the same yield as Arizona. Even
the NEB thinks it'll only make up 1-2% of the national grid by 2040.
