High Speed Rail in Canada

Justification is that the Feds will own Alto, but not the Alberta HSR. Another justification is Alberta gets Federally funded pipelines (the one Trudeau bough and built, which no Albertan seems to remember, and no doubt the new one will come with significant Federal financial backing). That said, who's to say the Feds won't pitch in to the Alberta HSR.

I do hope Smith is able to implement her rail plans for Alberta, since that just about the only good thing to have come out of her Government.
