I agree with you 100%. I posted the images for all to see their attempt to eliminate any on-road waiting traffic but the other thing is left turning traffic. They might have to make right hand turns only because it's very close to that busy intersection. I don't know but we'll see as it's before the city now.

Sherwood Crossing - Townhouses

The townhouses in the Sherwood Crossing development are progressing but I can't believe the city is asking for a public review for the more higher quality exterior elements. I guess so they can let the NIMBYS have their voices be heard once again and try to delay the project.

More steel went up the last day or so. Good to see things moving on this one.

Stratford Plaza

The two new buildings at the plaza in Stratford are nearing completion. I haven't heard who the tenants will be other than
Mary Browns but they should do well here in this high traffic area.

The former Ultramar service station on Fitzroy / Great George (University Ave) is surrounded in temporary fences. It looks like they’re preparing to take the building down. Other than Kens Corner, this marks an end to gas stations in downtown Charlottetown, which was once home almost a dozen.

The whole street fronting Great George should be redeveloped. A great opportunity to build a seven storey with first floor businesses and six floors for affordable and condos on top fronting the whole street.
If I recall right, a Truro company wanted to buy the opposite corner where the empty lot is and the house that remains there. They wanted to build a six storey for offices but was shot down because people complained it would block their view. A little late for that now as Service Canada and Invesco pretty well ruined whatever view they were speaking about. It's a good time to develop this. Let's get at her!!

I totally agree. Good quality infill and design will retain a good pedestrian realm / streetscape. First floor retail a must ....unless APM gets the bid.

Very positive feedback at the public meeting on this plan. I attended, and not one person opposed. Support from all neighbouring properties.

Not what I like to see, and that is the public being the ones who determines

PEI Capital Budget - New Schools

The money has been allocated for the new schools in Stratford and Sherwood.
The new school in Stratford has been long awaited as the cost of busing across the bridge into Charlottetown is steadily going up and there is no end in sight to the towns population growth.

The new replacement school for Sherwood is past due too as this school is nearing 60 years old. One thing I wondered is why they didn't make the elementary Sherwood school larger and decommission the also very old elementary Parkdale school which is only a few blocks away.

$42.1 million for a new Stratford School
$25.2 million for a new Sherwood School

Not big development news, but I’m hear Dooly’s on Kent Street is about to be renovated and rebranded. A new Italian restaurant was recently announced for the corner of Kent and Great George. With these two projects, coupled with the recently completed Arts Hotel and the overhead lights being installed, you can start to see how this area might become a decent little destination downtown.

There’s also a rumour of a barcade!

It'll be like another Richmond St.! If they want to attract more people downtown, then get rid of all the opposition against people living downtown. We need to get the Haviland and Porthouse developments, and others, underway. Hasn't City Hall learned anything from all this Covid stuf!!!

And I'm sure the downtown businesses wouldn't mind more people living downtown.
